Hazell won't seriously be considered for the Wisconsin job as some have been saying, so yes, I think Louisville would be a fantastic and logical stepping stone from Kent St.

Charlie Strong is leaving a decent amount of talent there and they have players who understand winning. They would also appreciate his offense.

I think Hazell's offensive philosophy is too colorful for Madison. Wisconsin's identity isn't in a player or a coach. It's wrapped in the system that has become their staple. There are only a few hires that make sense for UW if in fact Biff moves on, and the most logical choice is located in Pittsburgh.

Purdue ?

After failing to land Cincinnati coach Butch Jones, Purdue was able to grab Kent State coach Darrell Hazell, according to a report by CBS.
Hazell went 16-9 in two seasons at Kent State, a notoriously bad MAC program. He went 11-2 this season, including an 8-0 mark in MAC play, on his way to claiming the East Division title and MAC Coach of the Year. The Golden Flashes just missed out on a likely BCS bowl bid when they lost a 44-37 double-overtime thriller to Northern Illinois in the MAC title game.

I'm not seeing what his goal is here. Cal seems perfect; offense-oriented conference, easy state to recruit, David Shaw is going to be getting calls from the NFL shortly. Even assuming the rumors of other offers aren't true, another MAC title run would be a be a better stepping stone to a bigger job than spending time in West Lafayette.

He can recruit locally and still have those in-roads with coaches and recruits in the midwest. Purdue would be another stepping stone for him anyways, as long as he does well in w lafayette. I always liked him as a replacement for when Tressel left, but that ended prematurely.

To be honest if Meyer coaches for ten years Hazell wouldn't really be an option at OSU anyway due to age. If Meyer burns out after 4-5 years anything is possible.

Great hire by Purdue, and in contrast to what I see here, I think Purdue is a really good fit for Hazell too. Purdue's history of "basketball on grass" fits with what Hazell wants to do on offense and he can continue to use Ohio as his main recruiting ground, which he knows very well. If he can turn around Purdue in short order like he did with Kent State, which is very possible in a weak Leaders division, he ought to have a great pick of colleges if and when he wants to leave.
