The Big Ten should hit John L Smith with a show cause. Any university thinking about hiring him would need to show why they need to hire him.

NO!! He is absolutely deserving to head up that erectors-et lovin', zombie worshiping cult in the middle of pennshitolia.

On Bill King's radio show this morning (XM91) a caller said that there was a Tressel sighting in West Lafayette. Apparently boiler-up folks were going nuts over this. If I was Tressel I would travel to every college town without a coach just to see the reactions.

He was stopping to get gas on his way to the Horseshoe.

He has one ring that he didn't buy. It's from Texas. He was there one season, so he had no part in recruiting any of the players who played a role on that team.

He's under investigation. Hiring him would be insane. He's the Kelvin Sampson of college football.

Chizik had a lot of recruiting success due to his "family oriented" style of recruiting and coaching. One of the Auburn players wrote a letter explaining the vast change in coaching philosophy and in the football program that occurred after Chizik arrived.

"I find myself heavy hearted today as a result of Coach Chizik's dismissal at Auburn. I understand the nature of this business and the expectations at Auburn better than most. For this reason, I am aware that this past season was unacceptable. With that being said, before you dance on the grave of Chizik's tenure at Auburn, I would like to point out a couple of things. The National Championship speaks for itself, as should the "overachieving" seasons he had in 2009 and 20011. Still, I would like to bring to light a few things that many people may not be aware of. The previous coaching staff, for several different reasons, had left behind a group of young men that were damaged, discouraged and bitter towards Auburn. I was ready to leave auburn, as were several teammates (teammates that would be integral to the 2010 National Championship run). All of that changed the day Coach Chizik and his staff stepped on campus. We became students before athletes, people before scholarships, sons before players, and a family before a football team. He "fixed" the hearts and heads of young men that will go forward to be some of the greatest advocates and ambassadors Auburn has ever known. This, along with a national title and conference championship, will be his lasting legacy at Auburn.

I stood with Coach Chizik though grueling workouts and hellacious practices, through joyous victories and agonizing defeats, through trying times and sweet redemption. I also stood with Coach Chizik at a children?s hospital in Tampa, Florida, after he and I and a handful of my teammates had the privilege of visiting with the patients for a few hours. He looked at me and said "You know, Andrew, you can?t ever forget what?s most important in life.? He hasn?t forgotten. Neither have I. Thank you Coach. Thank you for everything."

- former Auburn OL Andrew McCain

This is also what most Auburn recruits (Reuben Foster for example) say drove them to commit.

GENE
-- let me ask you a question Cam, if
you don't mind?

CAM
Sure.

GENE
Were your Uncle Conrad and Aunt
Ginny millionaires?

CAM
No.

GENE
Well, your Uncle Milton is. And
I'm positive if Uncle Conrad and
Aunt Ginny were millionaires, they
would've furnished you with a whole
pulpit, which your Uncle
Milton is more than happy to do.
(takes out a roll of bills)
I like oak myself, that's what's in
my church. How 'bout you Cameron,
you an oak man?

CAM
Oak's nice.

I don't think Hazell goes to Purdidn't. He has to be seeing what is happening to Beckman and will wait for a better opportunity.

Realistically you have to give a guy 4 years or so (enough time to have their own recruits) to make an evaluation. Purdue is a BCS school and a major step up from the MAC.
