Not true at all. Quarantine the nursing homes for safety, not the entire population. Many productive solutions to save lives without collateral damage.
how exactly do you Quarantine everyone 70 and older? And the tens of millions of immunocompromised Americans?

That's without getting into the fact that 60 year olds are absolutely a risk factor too, and that most docs are an average of 60.

H1N1 was far deadlier and we didn’t bat an eye. This is a total joke. All this does is make the rich, richer, and the poor, poorer. I’ll take my chances, because this common cold is the least of my worries.
Per Merriam-Webster
Definition of ignorant

1a: destitute of knowledge or education an ignorant societyalso :
lacking knowledge or comprehension of the thing specified parents ignorant of modern mathematics
b: resulting from or showing lack of knowledge or intelligence

By what metric?
Death rate out of China is at 1.6% accounting for asymptomatic cases.
If you got diagnosed at the hospital it's 6%.
With 2 week incubation period, frequently with mild symptoms, and requiring just 15s of face-to-face... it has a proven exponential spread.
These are early days still.
It was only curbed in China by way of authoritarian restrictions that wont play here.
We're all laughing at the video Big Woof posted on 1st page, but that's proven to be the mindset necessary to stop it from spreading.
The opening stage has already played out in China, Iran, Italy, and South Korea.
The last is only one to take aggressive actions early, and only one to halt the hospital overload so far.
Stories out of Italy, theyre giving up treating a lot of patients at all... the staff and facilities dont exist... theyre choosing who they can save and who is left to die. This is an extreme case of triage.
The virus' exponential growth is in the textbooks 4 times now.

Well, it certainly isn’t polio brother! The cold is a Coronavirus, the flu is not. We are better off as a society building immunity instead of hiding from it. It’s not going away.

If you're right, and I hope you are, come back and gloat to your hearts content. Hell, I'll put "Heisman is the man" as my Sig for a calendar year.

If you are wrong, I expect you to come back and offer the most heart felt apology for your potential idiocy that you can possibly give. At which point you'll also tell us that, god forbid this country should find itself in another potential crisis, you'll remain silent on topics you aren't an industry professional in.

Fair?

I'd be avoiding places where people sweat in a confined area like the gym. Time to get your exercise outside.[/QUOTE

How can I come back and apologize, when I’m dead? Hahaha!!! In general, no one is actually scared of the virus nearly as much as a government mandated quarantine. That’s fact!!

So here is something that's going to get interesting;

PA Gov Wolf asked "non-essential retail" to voluntarily shut down for two weeks in Montgomery County (next county over and flash point of PA infections).

As any reasonable person could expect they said "fuck you"

So what are you going to do as the Gov? No rational human is going to voluntarily go broke because you are asking them to forgo their ability to live (pay rent, buy food etc), not just cut back on extreme wealth in this case.

No, at this level of escalation you are going to have to make them and before you go doing that, in this country, you better be damn sure about what you are asking and there is no way they can be damn sure to the point of rolling in the national guard and enforcing a lock down.

I can see both sides to some degree and this could become a damn hairy situation very quick.

EDIT: linked story

This is exactly what is causing such an unreasonable panic. The slippery slope of an untrusted government.
