You missed the earlier part where I concede that flattening the curve (implied: for that reason) is a reasonable thing.
Yikes.

There are a lot of people who thru no fault of their own have caught a shit hand In life. A lot. Like more than you realize. Catching this will kill them, curve flat or tall. To paraphrase Mad Dog Mattis, I come in peace. I dont even currently own a gun. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you try to sacrifice us for the economy, we'll kill you all.

What class do you think I'm in?
Elitist P*ick? It's right there under your avatar. But that was intended to be read as the royal you.

And holy fuck. How do you put shirts on without stretching out the collar?
It doesn't take a big head to conceive of multiple points of view when considering options here. It does, however, take an ability to recognize that my opinion may not be the only alternative. Thus far, I've been fairly balanced in my responses regarding those who chose to look at this situation through one lens only. The 'save everyone at all expenses' have... notsomuch.

Let's call a spade a spade. To suggest that we're all in this together is a fallacy if the 'save everyone at all expense' side doesn't recognize the other perspectives. Be it financial, treading on the bill of rights or other... there are other equally valid points of view in the discussion.

We aren’t staying at home to avoid infection. We are staying at home to flatten the curve. This is what all the leaders and scientists have been saying from day one.

So herein lies one of those differences you speak of...what constitutes a “good portion”
An overwhelmingly large percentage of the death toll does not include the groups you mention. I don’t know many ~80 year olds who still work, let alone in the health care industry. The comorbidity rates would also leave one to believe this isn’t taking a toll on either of those groups.

Sheriffs in TSUN are calling bullshit on some of the governor's ridiculous limitations.

I'll go on record here and say that virtually everyone here in the 'save everyone at all expense' boat isn't facing loss of business, house or life savings, and isn't having problems putting food on the table. I'd be their tune would be a lot different if they had to sit and listen to people tell them that not working and going broke is in their best interests while wondering if they're going to be able to put food on the table or even have a roof over their heads in a few months.

Problem is of course....the people with the shit hands through no fault of their own. And the ones that its partly their fault too, I don't know that we hate them, do we? And the ones in higher risk groups because they are older and can't afford a 10 year recovery are also more susceptible to the economy. This is the unfortunate reality. Over a long enough timeline, everyone will risk the same.
