Ohio State freshmen Greg Oden, Mike Conley Jr. and Daequan Cook now know a lot more about the business of basketball. Whether they soon join that business hasn't yet been announced.
The trio's families met for about six hours Sunday in Indianapolis with Mike Conley Sr. ? now an NBA agent.
After a group presentation, they broke up into three rooms and learned about draft position, money, marketing and the NBA life.
"They have a lot more information ? they were taking notes, the parents were taking notes, and they asked plenty of questions," said Albert Powell, an assistant to Conley Sr. on the group's AAU team and a friend to all three families. "For all three of them it's different.

Powell said all three guys will meet with Ohio State coach Thad Matta, probably today. Any press conference, involving one or more, would follow within a day or so.

This is great. Sounds like MC Sr. is handling this very professionally and thoroughly, which is really good for the guys. Always hope these guys make an informed decision that is best for them and it looks like they're getting the chance.

For the life of me, I just can't figure out why Cook would even be involved in that process. You have a first pick and a late lottery pick getting advice at the same time as someone who won't be drafted in the first round. It reminds me of the Little House on the Prairie school where 15 year olds are in the same class as the 5 year olds. What did they do, teach trigonometry during first period and tying your shoe during second period?

As I suggested elsewhere, an enterprising reporter ought to schedule a brief meeting on some subject with Thad this evening and primarily look for either a twinkle or a sadness in his eyes. If they see one or the other, they can run with it.

I'm afraid you're going to have to send in your man card for the Little House on the Prairie reference...

Its been said before, the NBA drafts on potential, and while i think cook should come back.. he will go first round

The NBA typically sticks their neck out for 6'9"+ type potential. I can't find one example of a 6'5" or shorter SG coming out after one substandard collegiate season getting drafted at all, let alone in the first round.

"Substandard" is obviously open to interpretation, but Corey Magette went early in the first round after his freshman year, despite never having started for Duke.
