I did not go to the game. But a number of my colleagues did, and all have been highly complimentary of the Ohio State fans in New Orleans, noting that they came in numbers and showed class and civility before, during and after the game.

As an LSU fan who has been to Tiger Stadium often, I have to say that showing class and civility is not the strong suit for many SEC contingents. At times, the passion for the game in the SEC goes a bit over the top. Anyway, I did want to note the kind words that people in Louisiana are saying about the Ohio State fan base.

It's too bad we don't have during the season more games between SEC and Big Ten schools. I can remember the tie that Ohio State and LSU playes to about 20 years ago in Baton Rouge.

And friends, we need a playoff system.

I have no problem with him bringing up Florida's dominance of the SEC during the 90's under Spurrier, especially since it was LSU that took down #1 Florida in 1997. It made the cover of Sports Illustrated with the caption: "See you later, Gators."

That was an exiting game, lots of lead changes. I went down on the field after the game and shook hundreds of hands and told everyone that we were taking out Auburn for them the next week, and that I hoped to see them in the Championship game.

You should have made Doug Johnson an honorary Tiger:biggrin:

Did you really HAVE to bring that up?

Well, I honestly know from personal experience the strong feelings about Florida that many LSU fans had during that time - for that reason.

I think if you have a mindset that is a little anti-any team, you will tend to see what you want to/expect to see, i.e., if you are told that Tiger fans are assholes, you will emphasize the drunk kids that physically block your way to the Indian mounds and point at you yelling Tiger bait, and who do not respond well to requests to move.

OTOH, if you are told how much fun LSu fans are, you will ignore that and concentrate on the great tailgating food you had with the many generous Tiger chefs who invite you in.

Like I say, sometimes the other things tend to skew the actual experience to one end or the other.

Great Game

Thanks:
It was truly a great title game to watch. Ohio has no reason to hang their heads. Both teams played a great game that any fan would enjoy. LSU played the cleanest game all year as far as penalties. I really thought we were going to shoot ourselves in the foot before the game started. Congrats to Ohio Fans and Team for being so humble.

I just heard that tOSU fans outnumberd LSU fans in the quarter over the weekend. That is simply amazing. Did anyone else hear that?

Congratulations to the Tigers and their fans for a well played and deserved victory. It has been great to see how many classy fans this game brought to our board. Good luck to all of you next season and look forward to talking to all of you in the future.

P.S. Congratulations to my fellow Buckeye fans who apparently outnumbered LSU fans on every street in NO.

Say what you want about Dougie, but that guy earned my respect that night. He spend most of that night on his back looking at the stars. As much of a physical beating as he took, he just kept getting back up, and had his team in position to win it at the end.

I never held a grudge against Florida for that time span. Yeah, I hated them and wished their plane would crash, but even during that time, I always enjoyed the Florida fans that ended up in our section. This year is the 1st year that there wasn't much banter with the ones who sat in front of us. Because the game was as tense as it was, there wasn't much conversation at all. But after the game, I got a handshake from each of them, and we congratulated each other on one of the best games any of us had ever seen in person.

Auburn on the other hand, has EARNED my hatred.

Did he do that on Monday, too, or did he have to work?

Most LSU fans had to work. Which is why they didn't dominate Sunday Night. They had to go to bed so they could get up for work in the morning. There was no reason to schedule off of work for a game in their hometown. So while OS fans were off for 4-5 days, LSU fans had to go to work.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe it would be like that if the game were to be played in Columbus, you'd have to be retarded to think otherwise.:biggrin::biggrin:
