When I think of dominating players in sports history, I think of players like Wayne Gretzky, Peyton Manning, Nolan Ryan, Michael Jordan... and the Arkansas punter.

I think they need to change the award from the Ray Guy award to the punter from Arkansas who was the best punter EVER award

I would love to see a home and home series between the Razorbacks and the Buckeyes someday. It would be a lot of fun to visit your stadium and welcome you to ours.

It's been a lot of fun getting to know the Buckeyes. This is a genuinely great message board. It's very well run, and for the most part its members have been gracious, knowledgeable and hospitable. I have enjoyed myself a lot.

Great summary of the game. Yes the game was hard fought classic and needless to say both teams "left everything on the field". A home and home series with Arkansas would be great. I too, hope you (and some of your fellow "swine") stick around BP. From everything I can gather the Arkansas fans were truly a "class act".

What you said: Knile Davis is the real deal. He will rush for over 100 yards.

What we said: Our defense focuses on stopping the run, and rarely do we allow a 100-yard rusher.

What actually happened: Davis had 139 yards on 26 carries (5.3 average). Davis rushed for more yards against the Ohio State defense than any other back this year.

He is a different type of back than Herron but their seasons were very similiar. Herron started off slow then dominated late in big ten season.

1st 6 games 355 yards for an average of 59 per game
last 7 games 797 yeards for an average of 114 per game.

Part of Herron's improvement was winning the starting job and not splitting time but he just started to play a lot better about week 5 @ Illinois.

4. I'm proud of the Razorbacks for showing the grit to come back and make it a game. Many teams wouldn't have. There is no shame in this loss. The Razorbacks showed a lot of heart and character to get back in it. They let their frustrations show in the second quarter but came back after the half focused and poised

I'm glad you make a point of this - somewhat lost in the woe is Tresselball, we took the foot of the gas wailing is this simple fact - your Hogs came into the second half far more determined and polished than they exited the first. They earned the comeback - and, frankly, I think that adds to the value of the victory. Had the game continued on the arc of the 1st half we would have had our "old-fashioned Buckeye butt kicking, but the win would not have been anywhere near as sweet to savor.

I've seen a lot of talk here and elsewhere about the officiating. I thought it was a very decently called game. They might have been a little loose, but I'd rather see that than a game called too tight. Let them play if you can. There were a couple of calls that could have gone the other way, but that happens in every single game played. There are no perfectly called games. The safety call was a judgement call, and what we think of that call is dependent on what shade of red we wear. Honestly, I can see both sides of the argument being valid, but again, it was a judgement call.

The same thing could be said about the 'dirty play' accusations from both sides, and I don't intend to get into that. Safe to say, what one fan sees as dirty, the other sees as tough tits.

I think this is a perfectly fair assessment - ACC crew - fucking awful. Rough play - all too often in the eye of the beholder.

Ryan Mallet was under pressure all night by the outstanding Buckeye defensive line. Even so, he played pretty well, if somewhat below his usual this year. He didn't get a lot of help from the Razorback receivers. 6 or 7 perfectly thrown balls were dropped. That is not typical of that squad. Joe Adams in particular had a gruesome night. He dropped at least 3 perfect balls. I feel for the kid. I know he's heartbroken.

I think some (though not all) of the dropped ball issues come down to Mallett and receivers being out of "perfect" timing, which goes back to pressure. Perhaps Ryan had memories of his last foray against the Buckeyes? Perhaps he was simply surprised all anew.

Knile Davis put up 139 yards of tough running against the OSU defense. The Arkansas running game will be in good hands next year.

Cannot over emphasize how big of stat that is. The Buckeye run D was the real thing all year - so was Knile Davis, very tough, very impressive.

I think Davis does look like the real deal, although I will say, the pass sets up the run. And when our D is focused on stopping the pass/putting pressure on the QB, it helps the run game. Several times I saw our DEs getting way up field to try to pressue Mallett and whammy, the ball is in Davis's hands, and he's getting 12 yards.

But he also was certainly a tough tackle; he's the kind of runner who can shake during his second step and evade a tackler in the hole, then get up field and run through arm tackles all day.

Great game. Great momentum shifts, great sidebar stories with all the injuries and stuff... happy we got out of there with a W.

the biggest thing i see with davis is very wise beyond his years with patience in waiting for the holes to open. he's able to wait for the O line and FB to get up on the LBs before choosing a spot to get into the second level, but then he bursts very quickly once the decision is made.

a lot of NFL backs take 2-3 years to learn that (adrian peterson, reggie bush still struggle with it). the fact that he's doing it as a first year starter in college is a credit to the AR position coaches as well, imo.

I think you are comparing apples and oranges. You can't honestly compare a college RB with NFL star-caliber players. I think a better comparison, if you insist on comparing Davis with Peterson and Bush, should have been on college level. What was Peterson and/or Bush doing during this stage of their college career respectively comparing to what Davis is doing.

...and he's a great combination of speed and power. The guy has what it takes to be a Heisman winner so long as defenses aren't able to stack the box with Mallet gone next year.

he doesn't have mallett's height, but he does have some mobility, so most of us are under the assumption that he ends up being better than mallett before he's gone.

You obviously know Ark football better than me, but I have a hard time believing losing Mallett won't be problematic. I'd say lean on Kniles Davis early and let Wilson manage games for you.
