Congrats from Ark fans

A quick note on why the game was close....

Not counting the two "kneel downs" at the end of the game, Ohio State ran 29 plays in the second half, and in addition committed two penalties on offense. These 31 plays netted Ohio State 95 yards (3.06 yards per play), 5 first downs, and exactly one point (FG for OSU, safety for Arkansas).

Fifteen of Ohio State's 31 plays (including 7 in a row at one point) went for zero or negative yards.

Ohio State's four punts in the second half (one blocked) netted 92 yards, or 23 yards per punt.

Say what you will - the Buckeyes came out flat and lacked focus, the Arkansas defense turned it up a notch, it was Tresselball run amok - it was a 180 degree reversal from the first half, and it certainly wasn't Ohio State's finest moment.

the ONLY thing that makes me insane about this team.

Everyone has said 1st have we looked like the #1 team in the country, 2nd have tresselball takes over and HOLD on.

If a turnover had been forced earlier in the second half, Tresselball would have been OK last night. It worked for a while - after the first 11 minutes of the 3rd quarter, each team had scored 3 points.

After that, Torrence tipped a potential pick-six. Another tipped ball went for Arkansas' longest pass play of the game - 24 yards on the play because Rolle changed his pursuit angle when the ball was tipped and thus missed the tackle. Torrence ripped out a ball which sure looked like Dominic Clarke was going to recover - he may have had it and gotten it ripped out in the pile.

If the Buckeyes had recovered any of those potential turnovers, they would have been up 31-13 and had the ball late in the third quarter, and the crowd and Arkansas wouldn't have gotten fired up.

After that, the BS safety call and the atypical fumble by Boom on his 4th down dive also made the game close enough to go either way. Tresselball doesn't anticipate those things occurring, and it sure doesn't allow for a blocked punt when protecting a 5-point lead with a little over a minute left.

The defense bailed out Tresselball last night. Arkansas had four 4th-quarter possessions with good or great field position, and the defense allowed only 29 yards and 3 points and sealed the win with an interception.
