Confirmed: Tuberville out at Auburn

I guess that's what 6 straight wins over Bama will get you.

Not that I'm doubting the rumor; just stating how amazing the college football environment is these days. Saban at Alabama hasn't even beaten Tuberville yet, but his success this year has Auburn scared to death.
I think what Auburn is leery of is idling while Saban gets another two years on the recruiting trail building depth that will sustain the Tide for a number of years. Saban did such a wonderful job recruiting at LSU he was immediately winning BCS bowls and a national title, then left the cupboard stocked so full in the trenches a nut-job prone to gambling on gimmick plays and showing poor clock management came right in and won another national title with the leftovers.

What Saban did in East Lansing was nothing short of spectacular given it occurred during a period of remarkable parity in the Big Ten, with some truly outstanding teams/programs at the time.

People will say what they will about Saban as a person, but the fact is he is a helluva coach. 'Bama was willing to pay any price to get him, and they'll pay any price to keep him. The Auburn alum know this.

Take your pick - Weis, Amstutz, Mangino, or Friedgen.

Those guys are alright, but I vote for this guy:

Tressel's rubber, Tommy's glue...

"In advocating a playoff, Tuberville pointed to Ohio State losing by a wide margin in consecutive national championship games by SEC teams.

"Ohio State would have finished fifth in our league and they're ranked No. 1 in the preseason poll," Tuberville said."

I'm sure we all remember that famous quote. Seems like 'ol Tommy boy is having his own problems keeping up with the rest of the SEC now. This should teach him a lesson for next time he considers bashing another program. He should aim for the UT job if Fulmer gets the ax and try to improve his 2-2 mark against the Big 10 when they play OSU in a few years.
:oh:

Who's the big splash guy out there this year?
I would think that the winners of the Frank Broyles award winners from last year probably still are "big" if they have not been hired as an HC as of yet. I would also expect there are some guys from the FCS schools that might be bigt".
