If you continue to have problems, I'd recommend adding some RAM. Should be a relatively inexpensive way (less than $100) to improve your computer's performance. Otherwise, it looks like you should be able to run most programs on XP without issue.

I have another question. My PC is running fine but my oldest brother told me over the weekend that I should run Disk Defragmenter periodically. I was wondering if that was true or not. It's not that I don't believe my brother but...:biggrin2:

yes you should... for a power user (someone who does a lot of heavy computing), they should do it once a week. For a lighter user, they can get away with doing it about once a month.

Basically, over time your hard drive ends up with files scattered around the hard drive, sometimes split between one area and another, and eventually it gets jumbled up and slows down the computer. It still functions, but it's takes longer than it should to grab certain files.

Defragmenting simply organizes everything for you again, as best as possible. Set it to do so once or twice a month, say on a sunday night at 4 am.

Thanks for your responses. When I go to System Tools and select Disk Defragmentation, it does not give me an option to select a date and time when I can run it. Am I missing something:huh: If I run it without setting a date and time about how long would it take to run. I guess the same is with PerfectOptimizer how long would it take to run and exactly what does that do. Well, I guess I could go to the web site and see what it does:)

If you want to do it regularly then use the task manager, I defrag mine every couple of weeks depending on how much I've been using the computer.

Excuse my ignorance:! but when I go to Task Manager or Scheduled Task I can not find Disk Defragmenter and I have no idea where it is located except when I go to Control Panel, Accessories, System Tools but I have no idea where to look to schedule it to run at a specific time/date.

I looked for it there too in sched tasks but I see it isn't on XP. Sorry but now you have to do it manually -start-programs-accessories- disk defragmentor.
