Comparisons between LSU v OSU offensive personnel

As for as the offensive personnel comparison, I'd say the quarterback is about even. Doucet missed about five games, and without him LSU recievers had a huge case of the dropsies for much of the year. Lafell was the worst, and even cost Flynn a couple of interceptions, but it seems like he has it finally straighteneed out. Byrd, to me, is LSU best reciever besides Doucet. He is the one that caught the ball at the end of the game that everyone makes such a big deal about. The drops have really affected Flynn's completion percentage, but i'd probably take him over Boeckman to be honest simply because of his mobility. I'd give Ohio state an edge on the offensive line, but the thing is, they will be going up against LSU's Dline, not our oline. This may be the single most important matchup of the game. As for as Wide Recievers, I'll call it a wash. LSU did have the drops for a good part of the year, but they seemed to be over them the last few games for the most part. Running backs, I'll say it is a wash. Wells is probably a little better than Hester, but his success hinges on Ohio State's ability to block LSU's Dline. Scott and Williams are on the bench though, and have the potential to be difference makers in this game on lsu's side. Dickson is a great TE as a sophomore, and i really don't know enough about Nicol to comment.

You have no idea what beig humiliated on the biggest stage will do to motivate a team.

If the opportunity to play for the crystal football on Jan 7th isn't enough motivation for either team then it will probably be evidenced by their performance on the field.

Someone has yet to explain to me why Early Doucet is considered an elite receiver with his whopping 9.5 ypc average...

Well he's our "possession" receiver. Most of his catches go for 1st downs and on 3rd downs. Also, our coaching staff has this fascination with the WR Bubble Screen even though the defense is expecting it. It worked for us last year with Dwayne Bowe but this year people know its coming, and usually results in a 1 yard gain, if any.
Watch the end of the game @ Arizona State game in 05, the end of the game @Tenn in 06, and the end of the game against Bama this year to see why he's considered one of the best WR's in the sport.

So three big games where he ends with a great catch supposedly makes him an elite receiver??? I dont get it either????

LSU does not use Doucet to make big plays but that does not mean he does not haved the ability. He has been more of the short catch, sure handed guy this year, especially with all those freaking bubble screens. I'd love to see LSU mix it up and go deep with him though. He definately has the ability or would not have been arguably number one wr recruit when he came out or be going in the first round in just about every mock. He'll probably be one of top 3 or 4 recievers taken in draft this year.

Doucet has always played the possession reciever role at LSU. Bowe last two years as the big "talent" and big play receiver. Ever since he was a freshman, when they need a catch, they dial up Doucet and he make the play.

Is that why LSU took two weeks off from full practices after the SEC CG?

Yeah, after listening to some of these guys talk about how the SECCG is what really matters, and the NC is just icing on the cake, don't you realize, Mili, that it's the same as SEC speed. You can't compete with SEC desire.
