Columbus Crew SC (2008, 2020, 2023 MLS Champions)

I get the whole wanting to develop possession, but too often already in the first two games, Columbus wants to sit around and knock the ball around, rarely advancing the ball toward the attacking third. Hopefully Meram will be fit to start the next game, because he's much more talented than Jiminez.

I will say this: Crew SC will win again! (j/k)

On a serious note, starting the season without a win after four games, central midfield and urgency in defense are two areas that need to improve. Lackadaisical passing out of the back creating counters needs to improve.

Real need for box-to-box central midfielders to combine the team. Energy. Lots of Energy. Can't go wrong with Energy.

Whenever Parkhurst gets the ball, he's trying to complete passes all the way up to Kamara or Higuain. Which works about 1 of 3,000 times..

So they trade Kamara for some future picks and a foreign spot. Basically a bag of soccer balls and a goal net. Hard to believe a team could fall so far, so fast. And if they keep struggling, Higuain will be the least popular man in Columbus.

And General and Targeted Allocation Money, and a cut of the transfer fee if he leaves MLS. Honestly, it was a pretty good deal. Kei Kamara had no business demanding he take that PK last weekend. Federico has been the PK taker for a while now, and I think I've only seen Kamara try one or two with Columbus.

This also opens up a DP spot for Columbus, which opens the possibility of the Crew targeting a bigger name in this summer's transfer window.

Hopefully Ola Kamara can step up and be half as productive as Kei was last season. He had a pretty nice goal last night against Veracruz.

Ola Kamara is a more complete striker than Kei Kamara. I can't believe I'm saying that, but it's the truth. The best move the Crew could have made was trading Kei away, and letting Ola his opportunity to shine. The Crew might be struggling, but Ola's minutes early in the season should pay off big time by the end of this season, and into next year.

Bump. New MLS Season kicks off on Saturday. Lots of new faces, and positions of need were ACTUALLY addressed. There may be some optimism in me for this season. Can't believe Columbus was able to sign a 22 year old Brazilian. Hopefully he blows up like Giancarlo Gonzalez did a couple of seasons ago!

Crew SC host the Chicago Fire on Saturday at 2:00 pm.

Tons of pace, dribbling ability, finishing one v ones, and only 22. Count me in. Looks like he just needed to find the right system. Dominic Oduro had a great season scoring-wise with the Crew, so I'm confident another player with a lot of speed and finishing ability can thrive here. Even if he's just coming off the bench early on, that could potentially be where he is most lethal. Either way, consider me excited about this trade.
