Columbus Crew SC (2008, 2020, 2023 MLS Champions)

THAT'S a statement game right there, fellas. Blowout the first place team in your division AT their place without four starters (including your two best players).

Crew's alone in first in the East with two games in hand.

Renteria for Starting 11.

Great win to take over first place in the east! Piss poor defense by NY all night long. However, the Crew had enough defensive lapses and lucky breaks go their way that the coaches will have more than enough on film to keep the guys from getting too full of themselves.

Emilio Renteria scored his second goal in as many games tonight in the 64th minute off of a GBS corner kick to take the Crew to a 1-0 win at the Kansas City Wizards. The Crew now have a 5 point lead over NYRB in the East with a game in hand. 2 wins in their 2 game road swing this week. There's no debate: the Crew is the best team in the Eastern Conference and the scary part is they still haven't played their best soccer yet.

The unbeaten Los Angeles Galaxy come to Crew Stadium this Saturday to face our unbeaten Columbus Crew in what looks to be the best game thus far this season in MLS. If there was a Crew game to attend this year, this one might be it.

Not a shocker, but neither Robbie Rogers or Chad Marshall made the 23-man roster that will play for the USA in the World Cup this year. There's always next year.

It does, however, mean that they are immediately available for the big game this weekend. Not sure if we were overdogs in the game before the announcement, but we will for sure be favored at home over LA now.

I was planning on going anyway, but I'm glad we'll have our best players out there. Now, I just need to get a black shirt or jersey to wear to the game.

Crew fell to the Galaxy 0-2 at home on Saturday. :(

Galaxy remain the only unbeaten team in MLS. Really should have gotten some result, at home, and LA without Donovan and Buddle. But, they sure are rolling. 9-0-2. Crew will bounce back.

The sad part is that they outplayed the Galaxy in almost every facet of the game. It's just that of the 3 shots on goal LA was able to muster, 2 of them went in... and the Crew couldn't finish any of the flurry they put on Donovan Ricketts. Sometimes you have those games. Just wish it wasn't this game.

Crew play at 10:00pm tonight at San Jose (half an hour from now). Will be televised on ONN HD locally. No Frankie Hejduk or Danny O'Rourke, but everybody else is available. Considering how well San Jose has played thus far this season, this should be a good game.

J Zaynor was in my bible study in Columbus. Not much else to say other than he's probably one of the nicest, most genuine and funny guys I've ever met. Just a little tidbit there. Crew lookin' sharp...fun to watch a Columbus team succeed.

Columbus find offensive spark in 2-2 draw against SJ | Columbus Crew

COLUMBUS ?- The rebound wasn?t quite as strong as the Crew wanted, but it still managed to keep one unbeaten streak alive.

Coming off its first defeat Saturday against Los Angeles, the Crew showed they was eager to put the past behind with a strong start at San Jose. However, Columbus could not hold leads and settled for a 2-2 tie on Wednesday to keep it's undefeated record on the road.

?We thought we should have gotten three [points] out of the game,? midfielder Eddie Gaven said. ?We played well enough to get them, but at the same time we?ll take one point on the road.?

Gaven scored in the 4th minute before Arturo Alvarez responded less than 62 seconds later. Chad Marshall made it 2-1 for the Crew in the 70th with a patented header off a Guillermo Barros Schelotto corner kick, but the Earthquakes? Chris Wondolowski scored via a free kick nine minutes later.

The Crew (6-1-3) have two wins and three ties on the road and will play at Colorado this Saturday.

Continued . . .
