All Crew fans might be thanking Jimmy Haslam, owner of the Browns, for saving their team.
I read this on another site and the guy seemed to know what he was talking about. The current owner will get to move to Austin but the players, colors, and the name will remain in Columbus under Haslam's majority ownership.. I have not read anything official so FWIW.He's just buying 28 kickers for the Browns. Somebody has to be good at it.
This isn’t directed at you specifically, but who pays the expansion fee in this scenario? If it’s not Precourt, MLS leadership seems like a joke, in my opinion, for letting the shenanigans of Precourt to get out of paying an expansion fee for a new team in Austin slide.I read this on another site and the guy seemed to know what he was talking about. Seems like the new ownership group pays the fee, trade it to precourt for the crew stuff .. probably plus considerations... Etc. Details in about a half a hour I guess, so whatever works I guess. This isn’t directed at you specifically, but who pays the expansion fee in this scenario? I forget where the number came from but at one point there was talk of $130 million but I was just like give precourt the $, let him flip $100 or whatever million into an expansion team in Austin and he and his dumb fucking logo can go do his thing with some extra cash to get things set up. It didn't seem exhorbitent because you'd have set up overhead for any expansion team, I dunno if it's $30 million but I'm sure it's something so it's not its all in his pocket.
Austin is going to love that snake.
"Fucking Precourt ate all the BBQ!"
As someone who lives in Austin. I say the following. Fuck him. Glad he’s not bringing the crew. My guess by year 3 they will be in the bottom of attendance and everything else, and I’m betting on a threat to move, austin isn’t a sports town. I feel bad for San Antonio FC folks. They deserve the team more than Austin.
MLS and soccer in America is so fucked up it should be easy but capitalism gets in the way and folks try to bilk as much money out of the system from every age level
