Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

And his defense hasn't exactly lit the world on fire lately either. If they didn't score as much as they do, they would be in trouble for the playoffs....

He just signed a 4 year big money deal last summer. Certainly the Bulin Chainlink Fence isn't the answer either :p

I can't help that Chicago have a golaie on a big deal that isn't as good as the money he is making. Trust me the Bulin should have retired already. Huet is a servicable netminder, but he isn't going to be an All-star anytime soon. He will keep them in the playoff picture for the next 3 years but he won't inspire them to greatness.

methot has some words for the pens and talbot...
Blue Jackets Xtra : Jackets notebook: Methot fires back after taking hard hit
A day after absorbing what he called a "gutless" hit from Pittsburgh winger Max Talbot, Blue Jackets defenseman Marc Methot was resting at home with a mild headache.

He did not travel with the Blue Jackets to Chicago for their game against the Blackhawks last night and will not play Sunday against the Detroit Red Wings after being found to have a mild concussion.
"I'm not dizzy like I was (Thursday) after the game, so that's good," Methot said. "I don't think it's going to be a long-term thing, but I never had a concussion before, so it's hard for me to say."
As soon as the headache subsides, Methot will take the requisite neurological exam before he can resume practicing with the club. He hopes to take the test this weekend, most likely Sunday.
As for the hit? He said the memory of that will linger.
"Talbot came way across the ice and got me on a pretty bad blow to the head," Methot said. "It wasn't a big hit, but he got me the right way. It was a pretty dirty hit. A gutless hit. He jumped, obviously, because he's a little guy. And it was a really late hit."

like i said before both teams were leaving their skates.

13 games left:

Detroit
Chicago
@Florida
@Tampa Bay
Calgary
@ St. Louis
St. Louis
Trashville
@Nashville
Chicago
@Chicago
@St. Louis
Minnesota

They have 78 points.

The bar is currently at 73 points. The Jackets have 13 games left as I said. The teams at the bar (Trashville and Edmonton) have 13 and 14 games left respectively.

Columbus needs, assuming everything stays the same, at least 6 more wins (or 12 points) to get to the bar. Last year the cutoff was 91 points.

Playing Trashville twice and St. Louis 3 more times is a Godsend. win both of those against Trashville and go at least 1-1-1 against St. Louis and columbus is probably in. The rest of the bottom half of the west (except St. Louis) have fallen apart. That also means winning the games they are supposed to win (i.e. Tampa and Florida) and don't let it get down to the last game against Minny.

that said, if Detroit wins today they will clinch a playoff berth :banger:

Zetterberg pushes Commodore face-first into the boards then draws a cross-checking penalty from Commodore to give Detroit their 4th PP of the first period.

Jackets can't get anything going up ice thus far.

Zetterburg did nothing wrong though.....Commodore cross-checked him 2 times, one of which hit him in the face.

No doubt Commodore earned his penalty, but Zetterberg did push him from behind face first into the boards. I understand why he was pissed.

I do too, except Commodore is supposed to be a leader on this team, he has to keep his head. Maybe one crosscheck wasn't going to get called, but once he hit him the 2nd and especially the 3rd time in the face, well, that's not what you need going into the last stretch of the season.
