Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

I think they are on the tipping point of a complete rebuild. Torts does not have a contract after this year, a lot of their minors system is on the verge of being over-ripe and there are several vets (Foligno/Savard especially) who are UFAs after this season. They will need to make a decision after this year about Korpi or Elvis (and I'd bet they keep Korpi at this point)....

Hope everyone enjoyed the 4 year playoff run, it's going to be a bit until they are back at that level.

Just sayin': I was thinking, with as favorable as the expansion draft currently is to the expansion team (i.e. look how competitive Las Vegas is); it's too bad John P. McConnell couldn't have sold this team to the Seattle owners and got the expansion team.......:slappy:

The Blue Jackets had a great come from behind strong finish to win the game.

1) After pulling the goalie and they scored a last minute (at :29) goal (Seth Jones) in the 3rd to tie and force OT.

2) They survived a 2 minute Hurricane power play (4 on 3) in OT. The Hurricanes were actually celebrating a goal/win; however, after a coaches' appeal and the official's review, it was nullified due to offsides.

3) They came from behind in the shoutout with goals on their 3rd (Patrik Laine) and 4th (Oliver Bjorkstrand) shots to win.

It's hard to believe it; however, they are tied for 4th place in their division (i.e. last playoff spot) with the Blackhawks.

Just sayin': The Blue Jackets won last night 4-2. The really good news is that I finally used Jet Pizza's promotional offer (i.e. if the Blue Jackets score 2 or more goals you can get 50% off a pizza the next day using code CBJ50. I got their Hawaiian pizza and it was pretty good too.

Gave up 4 goals IN THE FIRST PERIOD. They rival the Cleveland Cavaliers for worst run franchise in their ability to piss away draft picks and let stars walk in free agency. I knew they were facing a complete when they traded all their picks and then lost all 3 free agents. They are about to bottom out and it is because of management.

David Savard scratch means a trade coming, and to the Avs makes most sense

As my mom would say: “They’re up to somethin.’

That definitely means a trade is coming, seeing as how Savard had no injury at the time of the scratch. On an expiring contract with a $4.25 million cap hit and a veteran, physical D-man, Savard is the prototypical rental player so often sought at the deadline. The Avs, whose fifth and sixth D-man roster spots have looked a bit more tenuous of late, would seem to be the perfect player in the Savvy Sweepstakes.

I am told, though, that the Florida Panthers are also in, big-time, on Savard. Florida just lost their best D-man, Aaron Ekblad, to a season-ending injury. Still, I think the Avs are a prime player in this.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have acquired a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2022 National Hockey League Draft from the Toronto Maple Leafs in exchange for center Riley Nash, club General Manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced today. The pick will become a sixth-round pick if Nash plays in 25 percent of Toronto's playoff games this season.
