Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Let's hope we can win this game tonight and win AT LEAST one game against Nashville! I know they're hot right now, but Columbus is that dangerous team that can upset anyone!

Columbus could've won tonight, but they had 2 collective brainfarts in their defensive end and didn't help their goaltender any.

Not a good past two days for the city of Columbus... at least they crawled away with one point (even though they should have had two).

Yeah unfortunately the best hit of the night was by St. Louis and the 2nd best hit was a St. Louis guy losing his edge and splattering/self-owning himself on the ice....

:mad1: Anyone tell Norrena that he actually has to still goaltend EVEN during the shootout?!?! DAMN!!!

I didn't think that last one had gone in until Legace stopped Modin on the other side....

They didn't light the goal lamp when it apparently went in....

Still, it shouldn't have been in a shootout and probably shouldn't have gone to OT. Norrena bailed their arses out more than once in both the 3rd period and in OT...

I agree, but man... The first two were five hole.. Norrena should have stood tall! That OT was pretty exciting though on both sides! Columbus is showing great improvement with Hitchcock though! He's a great fit in Columbus!!!

They are doing ok....they've definitely improved, but I think I should edit my posts further back up on the thread....

While mathematically they have a shot at the playoffs still, they aren't going to get there this year.

They are still a play-maker and at least one solid defenseman short....

we will see some pretty decent personnel changes after this year on the Blue Jackets....

I wasn't exactly looking forward to the Jackets making a playoff push this year at least... Next year, I definitely think they have a decent shot. Norrena has been great in the goal and LeClaire isn't too shabby either!

As for that play maker... Watch out for Phillippe Dupuis! He was just drafted like last year by the Jackets and he spent some time in Dayton (I saw him play twice), then QUICKLY made the move up to Syracuse, look for him to be on the bench for Columbus next season and boy is he quick! He's got some great moves too!!!

well hopefully he'll pan out then.

They still need another solid defenseman, preferably a veteran who can act as a 3rd alternate...

And someone needs to tell Zherdev to play with his head up all the time. When he did it last night, he made a beautiful pass to Fritsche (I think) who scored. But he missed 4 or 5 other wide open opportunities because he was stick-handling too much....

I'm pretty sure he'll learn and you'll have someone akin to Joe Thornton or Pavel Datsyuk on your hands....he's got the skills to do it.

I'd have to agree! Dupuis is damn good.. I can't say that enough! Nicki Zherdev is a great player, but like you said needs to keep his head up.. And that defenseman would be an extremely nice aquisition!

players who will make a major impact in the second half of the season, of the listed nasher

Rick Nash
Winger
Blue Jackets
Everything went wrong for Columbus in the first quarter of the season before Ken Hitchcock took over as coach on Nov. 22.
Without question the Blue Jackets expected more from Nash, who had 13 goals and 17 assists over his first 39 games.
For the most part Nash has been healthy this season, although he sustained a lower body injury early in January, but it's not considered serious. getCSS("3053751") ASK THE NHL EXPERT: KEVIN DUPONT

Despite Nash's pedestrian first half, I still consider him to be the scariest player in the NHL from the blue line in. When Nash makes his mind up to get to the goal, there's little opponents can do to stop him.
He is in the same category as Alex Ovechkin of the Capitals. Nash doesn't shoot as well as Ovechkin from the top of the circle and other areas on the ice, but he is big, strong and really fast.
He is the kind of player who when he gets hot will go on a tear for a couple weeks and get 10 or 12 goals in that span. I think Nash will have at least one hot spell before the end of the season, and that will help make his second half much better than the first.
