It's all fun and games until your coach tries to fight the entire other team...if nothing else maybe the FSN Ohio broadcasts will be worth watching

This interested me in the last time championships were won by major sports teams in Ohio.. it's not good
Browns- 1964
Bengals- Never (founded 1968)
Indians- 1948
Reds- 1990
Cavs- Never (founded 1970)
Blue Jackets- Never (founded 1997; started NHL in 2000*)
Columbus Crew- 2008*

Of Sgt Brutus' list, only the Crew has managed to pretty much be contenders most years. <sigh>

Crew won the Cup in 2008, not '02. 2002 was the year they won the US Open Cup, which is essentially the FA Cup for the United States clubs in all 4 divisions. And CBJ didn't start playing in the NHL until 2001-2002 if I'm not mistaken.

Torts isn't the best coach but his style is what we need right now. Dubinsky was on that NYR team he coached, will be interesting to see the relationship between those two.
This team has talent and a good tender. A rebuild isn't what we need. A swift kick in the ass with a steel toe boot and some grit out on the ice is needed.
Between these losers and the Coyotes it looks to be another long NHL season. 0-7 is so fucking embarrassing. Not even the lowly Leafs, Oilers, or Sabers managed to suck this bad.

That's what I was thinking when I saw they announced he was going to be the coach. He could certainly provide the spark this team so desperately needs.

Yikes. He seriously better get this team winning then. That pick could have been used to trade for a defenseman like they said they were looking to make prior to the season starting.

the blue jackets are missing two things and it won't matter who the coach is....
1. They are missing at least 2 NHL-level defensemen....what they have isn't good.
2. They need another playmaker. Last year Johansen and Foligno along with Hartnell fit the bill, but what they need is that set up guy (Datsyuk, Crysby, etc) and he doesn't have to be a super star, he just doesn't need to be a defensive liability (Brassard).....
