Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

If he goes to the KHL or Europe then fuck him and the high horse he rode away on. NHL GMs all have long memories and more importantly, your reputation as a player can be damaged by such a move in a way that will taint his entire career.
Yeah how dare the kid try to make a living!

And don't be so sure he can just walk to European teams. There is a transfer agreement there. Also, if he goes to the KHL, he might as well stay there, because he won't be coming back to the NHL for a few years.

and yes he can just go to european teams if he's not under contract with an NHL team.

You don't cave to these type of players after 1 good year. That's what got previous GMs in Columbus into the mess they've been in since the franchise was given to the city.

Before TC heres my guess at the roster

Jenner-Dubinsky-Atkinson
Hartnell-Wennberg-Horton
Calvert-Anisimov-Foligno
Letestu-Dano-Hjalmarsson
D'Amigo, Boll

JJ-Tyutin
Murray-Wiz
Erixon-Savard
Prout

BOB
McBackup

I think they keep Wennberg, Rychel and Bjorkstrand off just because them playing in the AHL is better then playing 4th line minutes, however Dano is coming from playing in the KHL and looks like a complete NHL ready player, he plays a full game that can contribute this year. until Joey Signs i have Dubi on the top line and have wennberg sandwhich between the 2 seasoned vets on the team along with Giving Atkinson the size on his line. once Joey signs you send the worst preformer out of Dano and Wennberg to the AHL

I think the defense is hard to figure out, Tyutin lost a step last year, but i dont think any of the young guys are ready for 1st line PT including Murray, plus i dont want to put 2 full offensive guys on the same line with Wiz so that takes out Erixon, but i dont think you can put Tyutin and Wiz on the same line with their lack of speed and neither should be a 3rd line guy

You fail at using the quote system. But since it's noob education time...

He's a restricted free agent. While he isn't technically under contract, the CBJ own his rights. The European leagues tend to respect the NHL labor agreements as we saw with the lockout (not that I'd expect you to understand that). The KHL is a different animal. But the moment he blows off the NHL for either of those locations he'ls done for a while in North America.

And it has nothing to do with making a living so you can stick that one too.

Noobs :roll1:

how did i fail? it was done intentional, maybe instead of trolling like a bitch you should learn what the fuck your talking about for once in your life. the CBJ do own his rights, in the NHL. they legally cant not let him play over-seas, its not in the NHL CBA or anywhere else, not that i expect you to actually post facts, your too fucking stupid for that.

and yes it has everything to do with making a living, but hey keep talking out your ass, your nothing more then some internet tough guy still sucking on your moms tit accomplishing nothing in life.

Yeah - my guess is Johansen will cave and sign the bridge by Friday or Saturday. Holding out like this does him no favors and no other NHL team will touch him.

Nope. Literally 100% there is no deal done by sunday, zero, ziltch, zip, nada.
dont worry, your too much of a pussy to admit when your lying out your ass so i dont expect you to man up and admit when your wrong.

It's very easy to break up quotes so people can actually read your responses (not that anyone really gains anything from YOUR responses but I digress).

That said, the European clubs understand that if they want to continue to build relationships with teams in the NHL, they don't shit where they eat. No one said they could legally stop him from playing over there. You may want to stop while you're ahead. Oh wait...

:slappy: Nevermind. Hell I'm still waiting on you to explain how the Cleveland Indians were a "good team" in the decade of the 1980s

Another opinion.....

Blue Jackets running huge risk with Ryan Johansen negotiations

20130918_mjm_sg5_135.0_standard_783.0.jpg

The position the Blue Jackets are putting themselves into here is a dangerous one.

Think of recent situations that have played out like this. The Montreal Canadiens decided to go with a two-year bridge deal with P.K. Subban coming out of the lockout in 2013 in order to see if he was the real deal. He then went on to win the Norris Trophy that season and cashed in with an eight-year, $72 million deal this summer.

It may sound risky signing a 22-year-old like Johansen to a long-term, big-money deal but take a look at where Johansen is at.

He was the top scorer on the team last season by 12 points over defenseman James Wisniewski. He was 13 points better than the next best forward, Brandon Dubinsky. He was 23 points better than Cam Atkinson, who was fourth on the team, and he's younger than all of them.

If you want to look at Johansen's shot percentage (13.9 percent) and say he's due to regress, that's probably fair. But for a player at his age who produced that much in his first honest shot at being an offensive star, rather than a bottom-six forward, the right way to err on the side of caution would be to get the long-term deal done now.

After all, if he continues where he left off last season and becomes a 40-goal scorer, it'll be the Blue Jackets begging to sign him at $6.5 million per year in hopes he doesn't ask for the moon.

The guy brings up PK Subban but that's not really a fair comparison. Subban was a more established player when his deal was ready to be done. Subban plays all 3 phases of the game - Even, PK and PP. As near as I can tell, Johansen doesn't play PK much if at all. His shooting percentage was nearly double his career average. Max Pacioretty in 2012 is a better analogue to compare him too. Max got a 6 year contract for around $27 Million for almost the exact same scoring numbers plus Pacioretty played PK.

The CBJ have all the advantages here. Even if he puts up a 40 goal campaign (he won't), but even if he does and lands in the $8million per year territory, that isn't bad for the CBJ at all. If someone was going to offer him a contract like what his agent is asking for they would have done so by now.

So either he signs with the CBJ or he sits at home. It's up to him.
