Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

The problem with this year (and I think it is going to cost the CBJ) is that right now in the West you have a bunch of 3 point games being played.

The CBJ are playing great right now and have been since the All Star break, yet they aren't making up any ground because of these OT games.

I have always thought the rules for OT are ludicrous. Why award a team a point for getting to OT and LOSING?

It should be 2 points to the winner of the game. The team that loses the game should get nothing.

All that said, the CBJ put themselves in this position by sucking ass for all of December and into January so they deserve whatever they get.

On the plus side, after pissing away December, this team didn't fold up its tents like last year. I don't know if they're going to be able to get into the playoffs this year, but they are still in the mix and trying. Considering the lack of effort last season I'll take that as a sign that SA is doing something right in the locker room.

The West is crazy right now. Every team in the Pacific division is in the POs at the moment. (remember very early on, it was the Central which had virtually all its teams qualifying) 11th (12 teams) and 6th are separated by 4 points. Colorado is probably safe to call "out" as is Edmonton, but everyone else still has a legitimate - if not difficult - chance.

The rest of February

@Shitsburgh - W
San Jose - L
Colorado - W
@Dallas - W
LA - OT L
@Shitcago - W
Trashville
Phoenix
@Trashville

Not too bad honestly.....I think for them to get into the race they absolutely have to get over the Trashville mental block they seem to have...

All 3 of these remaining games in February are huge. And in all honesty haveing 4 days between Chicago and the first Trashville game, 3 days AT HOME between the 1st trashville game and the Phoenix game and then a travel day and a day off between the phoenix game and the 2nd Trashville game is huge for any team at this point in the year. At least we can say that fatigue hopefully won't be the issue.

Chicago has scored 24 more goals than Columbus and given up 12 fewer. And they have the exact same number of points in the same number of games. Go figure.

EDIT - Tampa is -5 in goal differential, first in the Southeast, and would be the #2 seed in the East. Florida is -5 in goal differential, last in the Southeast, and 19 points back of TB. :shake:

Chicago's defense has not been anywhere near like it was last year.

They can still score in a hurry, especially their first line, but at this point they are essentially a one line team.

And Tampa was just dominated by the Wings :banger:

Was at the game, and the Jackets looked fucking awesome. Jake was ridiculous (minus a couple turnovers). Nash is the best winger in the NHL not named Ovechkin.

If this is the Mason the Jackets get from here on out, they're in the playoffs.

Seriously, nobody had a bad game. Everyone played well. Don't know the last time I said that about the Jackets.

I had bought tickets a few months ago for when the Canucks come to town, and as the game gets closer my excitement builds. The game could turn into a playoff preview if things play out right. The Blue Jackets are on fire right now and only 2 points out of the playoffs.

Not sure with how banged up the Canucks are on the blue line that I want them playing the CBJ right now.

The Canucks are playing minor leaguers on their blue line, but Luongo is good enough to make up for it.

The CBJ have to shut down the Sedins.

Kessler has had a really good year too.

As for tonight, what a game against the assclowns...nice to see. Hopefully that will carry over as we round out the month.
