Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Garon is looking good. The Oilers have had some pretty good chances.

Nash didn't put it in on a breakaway, and had another near-breakaway that resulted in a penalty on Edmonton.

Still 0-0. Pretty physical game.

what a physical period. hopefully itll continue onto the second, but we need to stay disciplined. it always helps that your goalie is your best penalty killer. boy if nash woulda shot that about 2 inches lower coming outa the box, it would be a 1-0 game now.

When the Jackets were decisive with the puck tonight they looked pretty good offensively.

When they tried to get too cute and kept passing up shots for the "extra" pass, they looked too passive to me.

good win in the shoot out.

CBJ have been out-scored 18-14 in their last 5 games - and have 8 points to show for it.

Mason dealing with back spasms

According to the Twitter page of Blue Jackets' beat writer Aaron Portzline, goaltender Steve Mason is dealing with back spasms. The team will evalute Mason again on Monday morning, and they will recall a player from the AHL if his condition is not improved.

I suspect it is a product of repeatedly yanking his head around to see the puck in the back of the net.

Hopefully he gets over there and realizes there's more to the game than slick stickwork and comes back next year ready to compete.

I thought he was showing a lot of improvement. Just wasn't getting rewarded for it.

I think this is a good move for both parties, as long as he returns. Haven't read anything about it - but I'm assuming he's headed over on good terms.

when he gets back (If he comes back) i think he will become an all around player like weve seen nash and umberger grow into. before the hitch days, nasher was just a scoring threat and only got about 13 minutes a game and really only saw powerplay time. Hitch really made him a complete player, and in my mind probably the best and most underrated player in the NHL. i really hope this happens for nikita as well.

I don't think he'll be using his body like Nash and Umberger do, but I hope he's a good all-around player.

Heck, I wouldn't really care too much if he were slightly below-average defensively, as long as he lives up to some of his potential. Kid is dripping with talent. It'd be great to have two uber-talented goal scorers on the team. I think it would really push this team up a notch.
