Wings are without Draper for games 1 and 2 according to ESPN.

And its not Claude Lemiuex's fault? That's strange...

By the way, that is the hockey play I most remember from the past 15 years. I hated both the Avalanche and the Wings, but when they got together, it was great hockey theater.

whats the good/bad word on cleary?

Well it's the playoffs so the actual injury isn't being released, the RUMINT is that he's out for game 1 and possibly game 2 like draper, but another rumor has him returning to the ice at the end of practice.

Cleary is probably the toughest guy on the Wings in terms of physical toughness (He took a puck to the face last year and played his next shift after getting 10 stitches) but the broken jaw knocked him out because they wouldn't let him play and ONLY because they wouldn't let him play. He wanted to go.

He's a key cog on the PK AND he keeps a useless POS like Samuelsson off of the 2nd line.

Something like that.

Do you think Winnipeg wants Draper back?

Or Edmonton would want Maltby back after the careers those two have had?

Hell doug mclean got Draper for $1 Canadian.
fify

and by the jets you mean yotes...
oilers it worked out for them, that helped them
the oilers well it helped them make the cup run. would they do it again, who knows, but i doubt thats the biggest oopsie they have in the past six or so years.

How many times do you think Marty Lapointe has slapped himself for chasing paper instead of staying with a perennial cup contender?

I don't know the rules, but I haven't shaved since 2/26, so I'm in good shape.

It's probably not a good idea to start a playoff beard when it's already been six weeks. If the Jackets make a lengthy run, I'm going to look even more ridiculous than usual.

even if he can play (if the jackets get to the 2nd round or whenever) I dont think it is a smart idea to bring him back and throw him into the fire of the playoffs right off of the bat

i don't think they'd bring him back if they felt there was any risk of re-injury or if he wasn't ready. i say we need all the help we can get, especially when talking about scoring goals. it may take 3+ goals/game to win. brassard was nearly a point a game player before the injury. he could definitely give them a much needed extra scoring threat.
