Columbus Blue Jackets (Official Thread)

Other than the Vermette slash and the Williams holding penalty, this has been a piss-poor officiated game.

Especially the ref on the Columbus end this period. That jackass has missed about 10 penalties going both ways....

I didn't care for the Vermette slash call and that last one was absolute fucking garbage.

Should have been 2 for diving or holding on StL and nothing on Peca. Weak-ass shit.

They called that a trip on Peca? That's even more of a joke than a hold. :shake:

Bad, bad, bad turnover by Mason puts the Blues up 2-1. Can't have plays like that. :smash:

Getting worked by the Blues. :shake:

Based on the earlier games against St. Louis and Nashville, I was really, really hoping that a spot would be locked up by the time the Jackets had to play these BTB's.

Gotta take care of the Preds this week. Get swept and I'm turtling until the regular season is over.

Well, got one back. 4-2 with 4:25 left. Chris Mason was looking behind himself on that one, but no luck. They need to play with this energy from the get-go.

yeah agree, CBJ is almost there. LadyB and my nerves are shot. Can we take another week of this:)

If you think it's bad now, just wait until game 3 in the playoffs when the series is tied 1-1 and the CBJ are tied 2-2 with Calgary going into OT.

There is NOT any better or more tense situation than the NHL playoffs in OT. It's fucking awesome unless your team is one of the two teams in it and then it's a heart attack a second.

WITH SIX GAMES LEFT, BLUE JACKETS CLOSING IN ON PLAYOFFS

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Without looking at a calendar, it's easy to tell it's playoff time at Ken Hitchcock's house.
The bills are piling up and so are the dishes. There's a stack of newspapers by the front door. A tower of videotapes sit by the television, past games awaiting further review by the Columbus Blue Jackets coach.
Hitchcock is so focused on his team that he's become oblivious to all aspects of normal life.
"The one thing you find out at this time of the year is that the rest of the world stops," he said Monday. "All of the things that people do in everyday life, for us, stops.
"You spend little or no time with it. You exist. It's like you sleep, you come to the rink, you work at preparing your team, you go home and you rest."
The Blue Jackets, who are in their eighth season but have yet to make the playoffs, woke up Monday morning to find themselves with an unsteady grip on sixth place in the Western Conference with 86 points. Nashville, which Columbus hosts on Tuesday night, is seventh with 84 points. St. Louis holds the eighth and final playoff spot with 83 points -- with Anaheim (82), Edmonton (81) and Minnesota (80) right behind.
Each of those six teams have six games left.
If the current top eight teams hold onto their positions, it'll mark the first time in 28 years that every team from one division, in this case the Central (Detroit, Chicago, Columbus, Nashville, St. Louis), puts all of its members in the playoffs.
St. Louis general manager Larry Pleau told NHL.com, "We're hoping that happens again."
Things are so tight and every point so critical that everybody studies the standings, listens for the late scores and ponders every injury and personnel move.
For instance, the Predators lost forward Martin Erat to a broken left leg Sunday in Detroit, felled by teammate Shea Weber's slapshot. Erat will likely be gone for a month.
"That's a tough loss. Good player," Columbus captain Rick Nash said. But he said this is no time to express sympathy.
"Everybody has injuries."

Not the best of times for them to hit a flat spot.

They need to win their next game or they will be in trouble for the playoffs IMO.
they are still what 7-2-2 in the last 11. not exactly flat. granted 0-1-1 in the past two isnt stellar.

erat is out, arnott is out legwand is out. tough breaks for the preds.

jackets will be without chimmer or rusty. modin isnt skating. okt will have his knee scoped. brassard should start joining practices on a no contact basis this week.

next two games vs the preds. tonight and sat (i refuse to call it a back-back as they dont play on consecutive nights.)
