Flames can't put the puck behind Mase... So, I guess it's time to fight.

likely playoff meeting. they wanted to set the tone. the cbj have never been in this position, pure intimidation factor (long and short term). i should note guys like commie, vermette, tyutin, umberger, etc have seen this. and with the size, power, strength the team is built to handle it (minus guys like juice, russ, etc)

After tonight's game and seeing some of the other games in the NHL, I think the bar is now 92 points instead of 90 or so.

That means 7 more points. They have 8 games to do it in.
i think my math now says 3-5-1 (i had 4-5-1 after last game). so your "new math" = what ive been saying for a month or more now... :wink2:

this is a good read too.
Blue Jackets within reach of NHL's promised land
When Columbus Blue Jackets owner John H. McConnell died last April of liver cancer, his club dedicated this season to their
lovable "Mr. Mac."
With the promised land in sight -- a first-ever playoff NHL berth -- the Blue Jackets are following through on their
desire to say thank you to
McConnell. They're holding down sixth spot in the
Western Conference with 83 points (38-28-7) four points ahead of the Edmonton
Oilers. Both teams have nine games remaining.
If he's looking down from his box seat in heaven,
McConnell likely has a smile on his face. He made his
fortune in the steel business and his team, which only has one superstar in Rick Nash, and a hotshot rookie goalie in Steve Mason, is playing with the same steely desire.
In his eulogy for McConnell last April, Nash, who flew in from the world hockey championship in in Halifax, got a standing ovation when he said, "he would have probably liked us to win more often, and we will,
Mr. Mac, I promise."
"Mr. Mac was like coaching for your grandfather, or in some cases for your dad," said Blue Jackets head coach Ken Hitchcock, who lost his own dad to cancer when he was a teenager. "He is, and was, the face of professional hockey
(in Columbus). He's the major reason it's in Columbus. His legacy and shadow is everywhere."

you need to go to more games. but not as much as torres and murray need to score more... (the team has not lost a game when torres and/or murray has scored)

note: it is acceptable to tell the wife you need to go to more games. jo said so.

She's the one who talked me into going to the game last night. I think she just wanted me out of the house so I wouldn't make her watch the game with me.

In other news, my employer has 4 season tickets, but doubled the order to 8 tickets for any playoff games, so I don't have to worry about fighting with anyone over the last ticket. :banger:

I got lucky. I fight like Alexander Semin. The visor does protect me some, though. :slappy:

The Columbus Dispatch : Columbus man charged with threatening Blue Jackets

Peter Stenzel, 52, has been arrested and charged with inducing panic after placing at least three threatening phone calls to the Blue Jackets -- specifically goaltender Steve Mason during last night's win over Calgary.
According to the Columbus police report, Stenzel was wearing a Calgary Flames T-shirt when he was arrested at his residence in Columbus. He is charged with inducing panic, a misdemeanor.
"They got his number from caller ID, and it was given to special duty officers," Columbus police Sgt. Rich Weiner said. "When they got to his residence, he was upset. He's a passionate hockey fan."

Dumbass!

Fan jailed for threats against Jackets

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Police say a passionate hockey fan made physical threats against the Columbus Blue Jackets in a series of phone calls to the team's arena during a game.
Columbus Police Sgt. Rick Weiner says 52-year-old Peter Stenzel was arrested Thursday and charged with inducing panic for threatening physical harm against the team during its win over the Calgary Flames.
Weiner says police traced the phone calls to Stenzel's Columbus home, where they found him wearing a Flames T-shirt. Police would not say if specific players were targeted or what the threats entailed.
Stenzel was being held at the Franklin County Jail pending a Saturday court hearing.
Blue Jackets spokesman Todd Sharrock says the team will not comment on security matters.
