I've been thinking about the definition of success conversations now that we've been through the scenario where we could have lost to tsun but won a NC. It's no longer hypothetical, we actually went through it.

I can get with the CFP > The Game worldview more than I could before to be honest. I'm not all the way there yet but if I am honest with myself, had we beaten UGA then done a similar number on TCU, that bullshit on 11/26 would have a whole different place in my memory.

Although I hate you and myself for it...I agree.

While the sting of that loss would never really go away, there WOULD be quite a bit of off season entertainment watching the DFBIA whining about how they should REALLY be National Champs.

We are going to fuck this up aren't we?

"We"? Well, Delaney fucked it up 10 years ago. If that means "we" fucked it up, then yes, "we" are going to fuck it up, again.
It shouldn't be up to the playoff committee, or the NCAA, or even the Big Ten where the games are played. If Ohio State gets a 5-8 seed and gets to host a game, they should be allowed to choose to play in Detroit or Indy if they want. Or... they should be allowed to play it in Columbus.
But I think you're right: We're going to fuck this up.

By the way, I like the "should weather be an issue" part of it. Very vague. #10 9-3 Texas A&M is supposed to play at #7 10-2 Wisconsin. The weather is supposed to be partly cloudy, 22 degrees, no precipitation. We better move this to Minnesota's dome because it isn't safe to play in 22 degrees. Right? And, actually, I'm still not convinced Texas A&M or Florida or Clemson or anyone big will ever actually go play in the north, should cold be a factor. #10 9-3 Texas A&M will somehow magically drop a spot to #11, and have to go play at #6 11-2 TCU, and #11 9-3 Iowa State will get a late bump up to #10 to go play at #7 10-2 Wisconsin.

Gene Smith: "I'm sorry but do to the 22 degree weather and 40% chance of light snow, we will be moving Ohio State's playoff game to the Fiesta Bowl." Me checking notes sees that GS is on the board of the fucking Fiesta Bowl.

All I can say is that if Gene chooses to move an Ohio State playoff game away from Ohio Stadium and to an out-of-state dome because weather might hurt a Southern team, I WILL choose violence.

New CFP Stadium just dropped.
Nashville is building a new 2.1 billion dollar retractable roof stadium. Music City bowl just got a lot more serious.

Kinda off topic, but wow. Two billion seems like a lot for a football stadium.
