Is it really a big deal though? Overhyped teams at the beginning of the season regardless of conference will get exposed. I would argue Michigan is overhyped than pretty much any team in the SEC in the last few decades. The past few years they have been good, but how many times did they start in the top 10 then flamed out? Find a team in the SEC that is more overhyped, then I might pay attention.

it is a big deal because other teams end up getting overhyped down the line based off beating the initial overhyped teams.

Which of course is used to make the SEC out to be a unloveable gauntlet

It will work out in the end. We haven’t had really any controversy of teams getting screwed out of the playoffs yet. The playoffs are the only thing that matters now days for the big programs. A lot of bowl games usually matches up teams based on how they finished in their conference and not based on who you beat.

Someone needs to tell the Rose Bowl to go fuck itself. I've never seen such an inverted power dynamic than with the bowls. College football lets them call the shots despite their having actually zero product. They're fucking venues. That's all. I don't give a shit about tradition. Nobody is tuning in to see a building. The schools and conferences control the actual product, amd it's time they start acting like it. Rose Bowl doesn't like it then they can fill in that date with another rodeo or monster truck rally.

The Rose Bowl can get fucked. Unless Fox throws a shit ton of money at the Rose Bowl to breakaway from ESPN's CFP and move it's TV properties there as a championship type system, it needs to get on board or get left behind.

If the CFP doesn't expand in time for the 2024 season, it will lose roughly $450 million in potential gross revenue. There is mounting pressure to make a decision this week -- possibly as soon as Tuesday.

Well, since they own us, perhaps they're telling us where to play?

Too soon?
