College Football Playoff (2016-2017 Season)

I agree that Washington is pretty much a lock. I can't think of a scenario where they don't get in. Penn State wins 99-0? meh.
So michigan, Penn State, and Wisconsin are resting their hopes on Virginia Tech. That's the last way I can see in.

My guess:

If Clemson wins
  1. Bama
  2. OSU
  3. Clemson
  4. UW
If VT wins
  1. Bama
  2. OSU
  3. UW
  4. B1G Champ or tsun
Woody help us all if UF somehow beats Bama

I want UW vs Bama ... Peterson could very well Boise St them after that much time off and Bama hearing how noone else belongs in the same game as them.... I'm not too keen on given Peterson a month to go after us.

Maybe

OSU and Bama would both have a significant talent advantage along both lines of scrimmage (among other places). I'd rather have that than pinning my hopes to triple flea flickers.

Don't hold your breath on Vilma ever voicing support for us. He is still butthurt over his canes losing to us in 02
Actually I think it just last week he himself said that regardless of what happens in all the conference championship games Ohio State will be in because of their resume of top 10 wins and having only one loss...

I really don't think that will happen, Jax. PSU beat an Ohio State team after an overtime night game against a Wisky team that had two weeks to prepare, having two weeks to prepare themselves and winning on special teams play. I really think that it is possible that PSU lose rather badly--not probable--but possible, ending up in a bowl game not on 1 Jan.

Washington looks like a lock for the playoffs. My hope is that their big win doesn't propel them up and drop us to 4.
I feel good about playing Clemson, I think we can beat them in the trenches. They don't have great D-Line play and we'd be able to move the ball.
I feel pretty good about Washington as well, but their D line looked impressive last night, and that's our achilles heal. Was that a fluke?
I don't really want to play Bama yet. I think Clemson and Washington both have a much better matchup against Bama. I think Dabo and Peterson will draw up some good plays to beat their offense, and our offensive game planning in big games is inept. It's all about matchups and Bama's d-line would own us now that we are a drop back passing and run the ball up the middle team.

Now that all the conference championship games are over, let's speculate as to the committee's finals rankings before they announce them in about ten hours. Despite the Pedsters' comeback win, I don't think they even jump Michigan, let alone make it to the playoffs. I really hope that the committee jumps Washington over Clemson (or maybe even us, I really don't care as long as we're #3 and not #4), because I like our chances against Washington. I think that's very real given the way Washington dominated Colorado and the way Clemson couldn't really pull away from Virginia Tech.

I won't be surprised if the committee keeps the current top four as is tomorrow, but I'll go out on a limb and say:

1. Alabama
2. Ohio State
3. Washington
4. Clemson

Yeah, yeah...everyone wants to see an Alabama-Clemson rematch in the championship game and not a semi-final game, but I'm sticking with my projection.

It's COMICAL that now Washington has an issue with OSU being a non conference champion lol... I for one would leave Washington out but I don't think it'll happen.

If anyone is getting pushed out it'll be Washington though. We have two more against top ten teams and we didn't get controlled at home like they did in our loss.

Straight up conference championships matter but they only matter if your conference is not looked at as garbage outside of two teams (and that team beat you) but IMO the committee will send the message that you better schedule SOMEBODY in your non conference if they are in to sending messages.

They will not set the precedence that it's ok to set your schedule to cupcakes That's not ok at all.

Reasons to dislike the pedsters more, if possible:

OOC schedule 2017 ~ Akron U, Pitt, Georgia State, bye wk before TTUN

2018 ~ Appalachian State, Pitt, Kent State

2019 ~ Idaho, Buffalo, Pitt

So ped better go undefeated each year w/their cupcake OOC schedule if they want to be considered for the playoffs.

>

But on the bright side for the Buckeyes their bye wk next year is before, wait for it ...

you guessed it, the ped game at the Shoe!

Revenge will be so sweet in the Shoe next season. Also look at their fans crying about us on their board https://bwi.forums.rivals.com/threads/why-does-osu-get-a-freaking-pass-in.158888/

It comes down to "did you win all your games?" If the answer is not than you put yourself at risk of being left out, fair is fair.

I don't think we will see any new teams in the top 4. I have a hard time seeing tOSU drop out from #2, with three top 10 wins with two being on the road. Compare to Penn St who has 2 loses and weaker SOS. I won't be mad if they jump us because I can understand the H2H and conference champ argument. But I have a hard time believing most people think PSU is a better team. And no way Clemson or Washington gets bumped for a 2nd B1G team.

Some people are trying to say this is ground to expand the playoffs but I've had no problem with 4 teams. Adding more could cheapen the regular season and I don't agree with automatic conference bids, at least how they are set up now. Unless 5 P5 teams go undefeated there is no need to change right now.
