Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

Is he a Stanford alum? Is he from Palo Alto? I don't know enough about him to argue. But if he's ambitious at all, Texas would be far more appealing. Not to mention a...what... $9mil raise?

David was at Stanford the same time I was. His dad coached there when he was little and again when he was in HS.

Good guy. I'd be very surprised if he left for Texas.

Chip Brown is a fool. He's the Tejas version of BWI. He feeds the masses all that crap to inflate their egos. Whether he believes it or not, I don't know. Anyone with the slightest bit of knowledge of the Ohio State program knows that there is 0% chance that UM is even going to talk to Texas, but their fanbase is so delusional that they truly believe that they are everybody's dream job.

Meyer: no interest 0%
Harbaugh: no interest 0%
Shaw: if it's true that he's already turned down USC and the NFL, I'd say no more than 10% chance.
Saban: 20% chance.

None of these people are really in play except for Saban and that's only if he's looking to squeeze as much money out of the last few years of his career as possible.

The reality is that they're going to end up with somebody like Mack Brown--a guy who's strung a few good years together at a second tier program.

The only reason I can see Saban going is that he has enough of an ego, that the challenge of restoring Texas, as he has with Alabama, to national prominence again might appeal to him.

I can't imagine Urban leaving for any job. This list just shows how superior Texas believes they are.

It truly is crazy. The school has one NC in the last 45 years and was largely irrelevant for the entire 80s and 90s (really from 1980 to today irrelevant for all but that six year 03-09 window), yet they have no doubt that whomever replaces Mack will win multiple NCs in the first five years. USC is the only fanbase that could possibly challenge them for unrealistic, inflated views of themselves.

It's becoming obvious, but source told me that Mack Brown "isn't going to make it easy. He's told people he's not going to resign."

Travis Haney ‏@TravHaneyESPN 51m
Source made reference to Brown's desire to chase Royal's all-time wins mark at UT. He's 9 behind. Says Brown would feel validated by that.

Travis Haney ‏@TravHaneyESPN 52m
Brown will not get his wish, the source said. Everyone - except Brown, evidently - expects him to step down by week's end. He's digging in.

Last thing. Another source said he'd never seen Brown look as worn down as he did here in NYC on Monday. "He looked bad. Bad."

Frosty says, "Tain't happening."

http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/co...k-saban-coming-to-texas-there-s-no-chance.ece

ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit went on KESN 103.3 with Ian Fitzsimmons Tuesday to talk about Mack Brown and the Longhorn coaching rumors. Here are some highlights.

On Mack Brown being surprised when Herbstreit called him to ask about his alleged stepping down:

“Maybe he hasn’t even met, he was telling me, with the president or athletic director, so I guess maybe he’s meeting later this week? Maybe something will come of that, but as of right now, according to what he’s saying, he’s busy recruiting and doing his best to try to land a great class this year.”

“I think he kind of sounded like, ‘I think I’ve been rumored to be stepping down now 10 or 12 or 13 times now, whatever it’s been.’ I think he’s been almost numb to all the talk and all the chatter about his future. Think about it. Almost every week, he’s either stepping down or someone’s taking his job. One or the other.”

“As bad as things started for them at the beginning of this season, it was crazy that they went out and they’re playing football here in the last week or two with the chance to try to get to the Fiesta Bowl … So there’s something to be said for the job that he and the staff and the players did to try to gain some momentum in that season.”

On who could replace Brown if he steps down or is fired:

“Just scratch Nick Saban from the list. Immediately scratch that, and then go from there. Who do you think they would be able to bring in?”

And TexPN is trolling Bammer fans...

http://espn.go.com/college-football...e-offer-nick-saban-another-contract-extension

Alabama coach Nick Saban has had a contract extension on his desk since Friday, and the longer it goes unsigned, the more uncomfortable Alabama officials grow, sources said.

However, another source told ESPN's Brett McMurphy that if Saban leaves Alabama, it "won't be because of money" and that the coach and the school are "always in discussions" about extending the deal each year.
