Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

If anything, Wexner and Co. probably told Gene to leave the room, don't say anything, don't screw this up and please stop having press conferences.

And he didn't screw it up, so we've got that going for us. Which is nice.

......In fact, it's really nice.

Two more years on his contract and Gene's gone.

Can't get here soon enough.

close but 3 coaches.. in 3 years

Counting interim coaching, and coaches that never got there, I think the next coach will be the 7th head coach, going back to Wannstedt. I've posted the list somewhere here.

Anyone else foresee a tearful press conference where he announces that he's leaving Arkansas at the alter and staying in Madison?

I wouldn't doubt that he's doing this for either more money for himself or his staff in Madison (similar to Les Miles).

It's today's world.

I guess it depends on how much Arkansas is willing to pay and if Wisconsin can match.

I wouldn't be shocked if this is a salary renegotiation move by Bielema that was prematurely reported as a done deal.

Exactly. But he can't come out and say he was just trying to get paid by Wisky. I can see him turning on the waterworks saying that his players in madison meant too much to him to leave, blah, blah blah......

Here it is:

Pitt has a 'coaching carousel' all by themselves. Pitt head football coaches since December of 2010:

12-07-10 Dave Wannstedt fired

12-16-10 Michael Haywood hired (fired on 01-01-11 after felony domestic violence charge)

01-08-11 Phil Bennett was the interim head coach in the BBVA Compass bowl win over Ky

01-10-11 Todd Graham hired (quits on 12-13-11 to go to Ariz St, two weeks after referring to his assistants that left to work for RichRod at Arizona as "nothing but mercenaries", and Graham informs the team via text message)

12-22-11 Paul Chryst announced

01-07-12 Keith Patterson coached the team in the BBVA Compass Bowl vs. SMU

01-??-13 If Chryst leaves, Pitt will announce their 7th head coach in 25 months

If it were Joe Schad or anyone associated with ESPiN, I wouldn't be surprised if they got a story wrong.

Still remember "frosted tips" years ago with the Les Miles story.
