Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

I’m shocked LSU didn’t just send a blank check to Joe Brady. That makes a hell of a lot more sense than backing a brinks truck up for Kelly.

Joe Brady needs to learn how to be a HC. Scratch that, he needs to learn how to be a playcalling OC, much less the HC of a big program.

LSU is a bit of a rebuild right now. It's probably not setting him up for success to expect him to rebuild a program plagued with issues while expecting him to learn how to be a HC at the same time.

Now, if the LSU situation was similar to the stable situations that Day walked into at tOSU or Riley at OU or even (to a lesser degree) Kirby at UGA, it might make sense. But all of them had plenty of coordinator experience before becoming first time HC's at a major program, and they've all experienced challenges adapting to the learning curve of such a leap.

Joe Brady would be a great hire for LSU after BK leaves (likely) in a few years.

I was wondering where LSU would find $15M/year to pay Kelly. Then researched and saw the football team generated $92M just in 2018-19 alone and made a profit of $56M. So I guess they can afford it and won't have to max out the credit card.

The entire athletic department's revenue was $160M and they spent $149M that year. Hopefully BK's and his staff's salaries won't cause the cancellation of some of the non-revenue generating teams in the athletic department.

Kelly seemed more like a USC guy than an LSU guy to me. Shows what I know. Anyway, I figure Fickell is the likely replacement at ND. If so, hoping UC can hire Marcus Freeman as HC. It would be kind of hilarious if ND got into the playoffs after Kelly packed his bags

Imagine if the Juggalos and ND are both in the playoffs with Fickell announcing that he intends to become ND's coach and Kelly gone to LSU?
I don't think the playoff committee would put a team in the playoffs with an interim head coach. Kelly might have had some inside information that Notre Dame would not make the playoffs which is why he left before the playoff team announcement.

Curious how much LSU is paying out in dead money to former coaches. Orgeron has the school on the hook for like $17 million. Are they still paying out Pelini?

Zero chance I’m dragging my ass to a 7 am meeting with the guy that is bailing on me in the midst of a potential (likely?) playoff run. I’m texting back “fucc u”
