Coaching changes: coaches hired and fired, comings and goings

They absolutely need to cut bait with Riley, but it's looking like less and less of a good idea for them to be re-entering the market this offseason. USC, Miami, Virginia Tech and South Carolina are all better jobs so they're fifth in line before we even get to the vacancies come up at the end of the season.

South Carolina isn't a better job at this point. It is a mediocre program coming off one of their best coaches ever. Sure the recruiting grounds are great but it I need a few more coaches to go through the program and have success before I call it a better job then Nebraska even as much as Nebraska has faded as a job

Tom Herman at USC is a scary thought for Pac-12 fans. He'd own that conference in an hour.

I don't know if I'd go that far yet; if UCLA was healthy this year they'd be slaying...and they're still having a great year but as long as Mora is there I think they're in good hands....plus, Rosen has 2 more years so that doesn't hurt. Eddie Vanderdoes, Myles Jack, Paul Perkins, Fabian Moreau...that's 4 first team all conference kids out and still 6-2 and ranked.

I think Herman, if he chooses, can wait next year and see if anything else opens up (ahem, Texas) since Houston is going to keep killing it next year without doubt.

I'm not sure Herman is a cultural fit for USC, and with Pat Haden's health situation that may even be a job to avoid until there's stability in the athletics department.

Besides, restaurateur Tilman Fertitta is now heavily involved at UH and is the Chairman of the Board of Regents. I think there is a good possibility Herman gets paid to stay, and I mean paid. A lot of people point at what T Boone Pickens has done to keep Oklahoma State competitive; Fertitta's net worth is about three times more than Pickens.

USC is clearly a better job. Miami clearly isn't. The other two are arguable.

Damn near any coach would rather recruit at Miami than at Nebraska. It isn't even close.

South Carolina is absolutely a better job right now. Lower expectations, better recruiting and better pay.

Yeah, but the head coach's office smells like Steve Spurrier.

Having bought my grandparents' home in 2005, I am speaking from experience that it takes several years to get the old people smell out.
