Yes, and the number one thing the Spiders has going for it is, its not fucking stupid. (Anyone notice those Guardians are 4 white dudes?)

And Spiders checks the historical box too, this isn't a blip on the radar team... Cy Young played for them for 9 seasons (and five other hall of famers)

I mean they're pure Cleveland, they had 7 ties in 1898 alone!

It was cool, easy, obvious, and would have appealed to traditionalists if not arachnophobes.

All they had to do was not overthink it.

This would have been sweet.

Personally, my biggest issue with this is it seems lazy. I seem to be in the minority, but Guardians doesn't bother me terribly. Could have been better, could have been a lot worse. My issue is this seems like it was all just thrown together Thursday evening and thrust upon everyone Friday morning with fingers crossed hoping for the best. If you have a clean slate to rebrand yourself, then fucking DO IT. I like the Tribe's uniforms, but you have the opportunity to start anew and all you do is change some font on the uniforms? Fuck you, man.

Right. After I saw the new throwback endzones this year at first energy (check them out if you haven't) at that moment I realized the should have called Jimmy and Dee and said, "Hey, tell us about the time you royally fucked up the Browns unis but have mostly done the righr stuff since, and how do we avoid that too"

Do you get the impression the front office is secretly welcoming the fall from contention? To really rebuild on their meager budget they have to sell now. They have to find more young (inexpensive and controlled) talent to try to develop. Except in the case of OFs, where the organization clearly has NO development skills, maybe they can try to catch lightning in a bottle and fall into a position player who’s ready to break out.

Being in contention now puts pressure on the deep thinkers to improve for this year. Even though it was pretty clear in February this is not a championship team, if the casual fans see the team only a few games back in late July they’re ready for playoff parties!

Cal Quantrill has earned a spot in the rotation.

McKenzie and Morgan have some potential but they have frequently fallen apart around the 5th inning (or sometimes earlier). Mejia and Hentges really belong in the minors.

If they're buying...and trading off prospects to do it...they're fucking stupid. They aren't going anywhere even if they sneak into the postseason by some act of God. They need to start rebuilding because this team, as currently constructed, is at best treading water.
