I was there and I don't think there were 3 fans in the place that thought Masterson should have stayed in the game for the 9th. Perez was tanned, rested and, we thought, ready to do his job. It was cold with a nasty windchill and Masterson had already stretched for about 15 or more pitches than he had tossed in Spring Training. You really wanted to take a chance of blowing your No. 1 starter's arm for a complete game stat on the first game of the season? No thanks.

Now, if you wanna bitch 'bout Manny leaving Perez in for 30 pitches when it was clear after about 8 of them that he had no speed or control, well that's a horse of another color.....

the bigger issue than perez sucking and umpires squeezing the strike zone for joey bats was the fact that cleveland only scored in one of 16 innings, and shit down their legs twice in extra innings when all they needed was contact to the outfield to win the game.
