Cleveland Indians (official 2012 season)

the SP has dominated to start the season just 3 ER in 22 out of 38 innings, the BP has given up 17 ER in 16 innings, i cant believe some posters actually said the BP isnt to blame in this thread?

A-Cab is now 0-2 on the year with bases loaded situations, 1 of which could have won the game. then in the 9th he blows an easy routine DP ball that almost cost them this game as well

seems like he just does not want to be here, he signed the shortest contract extention he could and is playing like shit right now

The bullpen is very much to blame, but the limp-dick offense shares some of it.

I'm not saying the BP is without fault in all of this but consider that a lot of the runs they've given up have been well into extra innings when Toronto scored 3-4 at once to end the game. I mean they pitched shutout ball into the 16th inning on opening day after CP's disaster.

Other than Perez and the one new bum who was a last resort on opening day they haven't pitched all that bad...not as bad as the offense has performed.

Keep in mind they were pitching against one of the best offensive lineups in all of baseball too.

I see no way that game 1 was not all on the BP. They had a 3 Run lead going into the 9th they just needed to get 3 outs. Whats the point of having BP guys if they cant do that? If you're offense put you in positon to win by 3 in the final 3 outs a good BP will not lose that game

The 2nd game you could say its on the offense for not scoring untill the 9th i think it was but the BP got hammered 2 innings later on a day the offense was struggling

the 3rd game was almost as bad as the first game, bases loaded only up by 1 in the top if the 9th with one of the best hitters in baseball to bad. Luckily he poped up but still it shouldnt be that hard to get 3 consecutive outs when you're starters do it all game long

How can the offense be shutout for the final 14 innings of the game and not deserve some blame? Does the BP deserve blame? Absolutely. But to say it's "all their fault" is a pretty myopic point of view...especially when there's 14 consecutive goose eggs next to "Cleveland". You can continue to try to blame it all on the BP, but you're incorrect. The offense's job is to score runs. They failed to do that other than in one inning. Blame doesn't have to be an either/or scenario.

Not buying it. The offense put them in position to win it. The BP deserves 100% of the blame

3 games is too small a sample to judge this team on, so let's look at 162 games instead. Last year, we had one of if not the best bullpen in baseball. Last year, we had one of if not the worst offense in baseball. It ain't much of a limb here but I happen to think 2 months from now we're still talking about how shitty this offense is and the organizations inability to bring in decent bat.

Only reliever with clean ERA is Raffy Perez.

Sizemore's injury and LaPorta's incompetence are two huge holes on this team right now. You could hide Hannahan in a better lineup but not with Brantley and Kotchman taking up slots as well.

And yes, Kotchman is extra annoying with his little between-pitch windmills when at first. He makes Jim Eisenreich look stoic.

I'm cool with the Ubaldo trade because I don't think Pomeranz and White are clear upgrades over Tomlin/Gomez, at least with their off-the-field-issues. However, there's nothing in the minors stick-wise until you get down to Francisco Lindor Truffles. By the time he's ready, you're done with the 5-6 hitters who are actually league average or slightly above. Thus, I'm more depressed with the future of this franchise than I have been in awhile.

Since they are neither hot nor cold, but merely lukewarm, they have a very bad taste in my mouth.
