Allen and Miller have been lights out.

After a few weeks, here's how i read this team...

- starting pitching is top 3 in mlb.
- back end of the BP is top 3 in mlb.
- middle relief is going to be an issue.
- if, IF, brantley can stay healthy, he should have a nice year. he's a very good "pure hitter."
- i suspect most of the lineup will come around, but kipnis is a blackhole in the lineup, and I'm concerned age is catching up to EE.

I don't think they're as talented as the past two seasons. However, with this pathetic division, it's gonna take some real catastrophes to miss the playoffs. If the starting pitching stays healthy, that gives them a shot.

All that said, it's cleveland, so they'll disappoint.

They're dead last in the AL when it comes to team batting average at the moment and 13/15 when it comes to runs scored. The fact that they are 4 games above .500 right now is pretty amazing, definitely 100% credited to the mentioned top 3 pitching.

Melky Cabrera inked to a minor league deal.

Well, I think they're worried that they're not going to solve this Chis recurring injury soon. And Guyer sucks, and Naquin while doing OK, may have new holes in his swing to exploit once there's enough film, plus Brantley probably can't be counted on safely - and hopefully he's just fine - to play the whole season.

Oddly, it gets back to the Kip black hole, my feeling is he was the first option to move to the OF... but he sucks right now, though I tend to think that he's always been on the edge of not effective at 2nd (he was an OF in College) so maybe taking the pressure of being an up the middle defender off him might help all around, but for the most part the OF is a mess.

I'm not worried about EE yet, look at last April, and apparently many before that, its about the same. Does he look diminished and like the type of guy whose going to just punish mistakes where he can just pull the ball? But, he looked like that last April too.

2016 10-11 in April, won 94 games
2017 14-10 in April won 102 games
2018 Currently 12-8... sounds about the same.

Oddly though, in a lot of ways they're in a lot better place than the last 2 years. Point 1, do not look at Carlos Santana stats for the Phillies, do not! But even in '16, we came in wondering where the runs were going to come from. Obviously our view of Lindor and Ramirez, etc are much different, but, and we know more what Zimmer and Naquin are for good or bad... so Point 2, I think its a much better picture than 2 years ago, and performance so far this year offensively aside, they are healthier than last year.

Still shitty.

3 guys that shouldn't be in any Indians lineup unless it's a blowout either way: McCallister, Tomlin, Kipnis ..... all 3 have been worthless for the past 2-3 years. Kipnis still hitting in the two hole is a joke, hard to jump out early in games when you have an instant out, cant move the runner hitting behind the lead off. Move Ramirez or Brantley up, Kipnis should be hitting 9th if he has to remain in the lineup. Frustrating to watch him take 1st pitch down the middle every at bat then proceed to swing at shit in the dirt or rarely making contact.
