Cleveland Indians 2015 Thread of Barely Restrained Contempt (BALLS)

Yes and no....

They were 8-14 on May 1st. Mets were 16-8 and the Nationals were 10-14.

On June 1st, Washington was 28-22 (18-8), the Mess were starting to fall apart at this point and were 29-23 (7-15), while the Indians were 24-26 (16-12 for the month of May)....

I guess the point is you can have a [Mark May]ty April if your team is talented like Washington or Baltimore and a few others are right now.

As it was, they went 16-12 in May, which isn't a bad record at all, the problem is they followed May with a 12-15 June and are all but out of everything but the 2nd Wild Card with teams like Baltimore, Toronto, Tampa, Texas, Houston and Minnesota (all with better pitching staffs) ahead of Cleveland right now. The real problem is the Indians are almost exactly on their Pythagorean stat for wins and losses - they've played like a .471 team (their winning pct is .469), so I wouldn't expect great improvement since the stats show they haven't greatly underachieved (like say Toronto has or Oakland has).....
Uh...wall of text, ergo theyre still shitty

I admit, I'm an idiot-- I still think this team has a shot at the Division. The pitching staff is nasty. The bullpen has improved as the season has progressed. The hitting just needs to get a bit better.

Edit/. Wasn't finished when I hit reply. Anyhow. Obviously the hitting must get better but there are signs that it will. The Indiana have the most runners left on base and the second worst at strining hits together. I think those things improve and thus the wins follow.

Well, the Indians are out of the basement. For now.
I don't know whether to laugh or cry. On one hand, they're still shitty and all that. On the other, they are almost a .500 team with half a roster contributing as much to baseball as Paris Hilton would to a virgin convention. I think they went from "What if" to "What could have been"
