Cleveland Indians (2013 Season)

http://sports.yahoo.com/video/sportsmin-miguel-cabrera-home-run-080439237.html

How is that a homerun by Cabrera and not an error on Bourn? Clearly should have been a catch, and the ball would not have cleared the fence if it hadn't bounced out of his glove. Should have been scored a 4 base error. If an infielder does the same [Mark May], it's scored an error and not a hit. He gets a homerun and RBIs for that crap? Come on man!

The Indians once got a home run when the ball bounced off the fielders head (I think it was Canseco).

Tito's revenge...

How about Zach MCallister, didn't have his best stuff but got it done, you'd like to get another inning out of him but, this is one of his worst starts lately, still pretty good for a guy who's supposed to be the #4. Really nice stuff from him.

Oh, and Yan motherfucking Gomes.

GOOOMMMEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

I have to say, McAllister is our obvious #2, in reality. Ubaldo, Kluber, and Kazmair...ugh. Ubaldo I guess is a passable 4 because he has a few good starts interspersed with his terrible ones. Kazmair throws well but always gives up runs. Kluber doesn't seem to be able to do much. And Carrasco is a headhunter, Bauer can't throw strikes, and no one else is ready. So the SP is not in a great situation.

But man, can this team hit.

I think we have a pretty good 1-3 in with Masterson, McAllister, and Ubaldo but then we have a bunch of borderline #5 guys trying to fill the 4-5 with Kluber, Kazmir, Bauer, and Myers. I am hoping Kazmir gets better as the season goes on and he regains previous form, and that Bauer can work on his control between now and September because he has filthy stuff when he throws strikes. I think those two panning out late in the season would give us our best chance to do something in the postseason (though when you get that far, you generally don't need 5 pitchers).

If they want to make a serious run at the postseason, I think they need to trade for one starter at the deadline. I think that's the only way it's going to happen. I don't think the bottom of the rotation is good enough.

(and to Magua, I didn't want to multiquote to death)

Well, first, I certainly wasn't commenting on the consistency/quality or lack thereof of the rest of them.

As to Myers, I haven't written him off yet, I'm not convinced he's been the least bit healthy, since well, spring. Don't think you can count on him at this point either... on the other hand, we need innings, so, getting him healthy would be a good thing up to the point where you can make some decisions in the next 6 weeks.

I honestly was sort of hoping they could keep Bauer at AAA for while with a light workload and then if needed bring him up in August and give him a couple months with the big club. The good news is, its not a stuff problem with him... dunno. His k to BB ratio at Columbus is better than 2-1 and his WHIP is 1.17.... so.. much like Ubaldo, in his head.

Speakign of Ubaldo... To be honest, in spite of the last start, and there were some things going against the Tribe in that game early, not the least of which was an indecipherable strike zone for a couple innings... Ubaldo isn't the same guy the last month... at all... somehow, and I don't have any clue how, they've managed to simplify his delivery and for the most party he's more confidant in his fastball again.... sometimes... the problem is really that he's a basket case... its not like he doesn't have the movement and velocity to get it done, he still throws hard, but, I think we're gonna have to hope its a work in progress where we're gonna continue to see more good than bad.

Kluber, is Kluber, I mean, I think we got a few "not much tape on the kid" outings but, he's gonna get raked the more he gets sent out, I think.

And yeah, I mean, they need SP help, but, again, its a question of what's availalbe and what's in gonna cost (beyond money).

I don't really know what to think of Kazmir, but, its a bonus at this point... honestly, the talk with him needs to be to be aggressive as possible and that what we're looking for is 6 innigns and if he gives up 4 runs, not a big deal...

Because, yeah, these guys can score in bunches.

I do not know who they would trade even if they could find a partner because we certainly do not have much in the minors. Also, I am sure that AKAK and yourself notice all the chatter on Cleveland.com about bringing Carrasco up around the All-Star break. I do not have a lot of faith in Myers and do not even know if his arm will be healed in time to contribute this season. Kazmir needs to be replaced because he is so unpredictable. I would rather see them use the young arms rather than him or Myers.

If you're not gonna count on Myers or Kazmir for anything, then they probably don't have enough guys... barring the miraculous return of Dice-K. (Empasis on miracle).

no faith in McAllister, Kluber, Carrasco, and the big U along with Masterson. I highly doubt if Myers will be ready by July and I still have my doubts about him along with Kazmir.
