Cleveland Indians (2013 Season)

Three good pitching starts in a row. Anybody think someone besides Santana catching helped contribute to the change?

Well, given that Masterson has been untoucable regardless of the catcher, McAllister has given up 2 then 1 earned runs in his two starts, so, he's been about the same, the differnce being he got 0 run support in the first, and 9 in the second. Which leaves us with Myers, and well I'm pretty sure its not Santana's fault the guy was serving up belt high meat balls in his first start, and was not the catcher in the second... so... in a word... no.

It is getting harder and harder for the Cleveland Indians to justify Ubaldo Jimenez. Sure, for the longest time, the Tribe has gotten by on the possibility that the one-time talented pitcher would right himself.

He has battled mechanics, worked on his velocity and tried to find some consistency in his delivery since joining the Indians. Yet, here we are and Jimenez is still a mess.

Coming off of a 7-2 loss to the Boston Red Sox where the righty surrendered seven runs and five walks without escaping the second inning, Jimenez looked as lost as ever. His wild streak emerged after a quick first frame and the Tribe hurler was never able to recover from a wildly inconsistent strike zone.

And with that, any chance of ever seeing him get squared away seems to be dwindling by the day.

Hopefully not much longer...

If the fucker got lit up on some fastballs some starts, I could live with it. Hell everyone gives up a few homers, and teams in the AL East can hit. It's all the goddamn walks that are bullshit. Masterson obviously came into the season committed to fixing that problem, and though his ERA won't last, it will stay low and he will stay competitive because of it. This assclown just refuses to do anything differently, and the results are all the same. Walk walk walk big hit walk walk walk homer shower. They need to DFA his ass now. He is of no use to this ballclub. If we are going to have a guy walk everyone, bring up Bauer...at least he will get some experience and get some guys out once in a while.

That is what I cannot understand. They should just cut ties with the guy and bring up one of the young guns from Columbus. They might give up a lot of home runs but I would rather see that then someone walking batter after batter after batter after batter after batter.

Well, this goes back to what Lion is saying, and well, i think the reasons are different but its ironic that we 're talking about Carmona... Ubaldo should just say screw it and start firing fastballs down the pipe and telling them to deal with it.... its not like he's got no velocity or movement... sometimes its okay to be a thrower and not a pitcher.

Yep. The thing I'm most worried about is that we spent major $$ on Swisher and Bourn...and top out at 78-84 wins over the next four years.

They have to find out what Bauer, Carrasco and McCallister can give them alongside Masterson. Hell, bring up Danny Salazar and let him sink or swim.

I'm more satisfied with the front office this year than when they sat on their hands, but it still seems their trying to straddle the fence. If this team only sees one playoff appearance in four years with Swisher/Bourn, that's a terrible ROI. If they can't support those signings with good players in the field and on the mound, it's a waste. Myers and Jimenez are chum guzzlers and simply the next incarnation of Pavano/Lowe.

Oakland can go young with starting pitching but we can't?
