Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

more great news

Indians placed OF Grady Sizemore on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 11, with a right knee contusion.

The bruise isn't serious, but Sizemore hasn't made a quick recovery and the Indians are now taking the safest course. He should be back when his 15 days are up. The injury is not to his surgically-repaired knee and, according to the Cleveland training staff, he's merely dealing with soreness. Sizemore will leave behind a .974 OPS, six homers and 11 runs batted in.
after watching the play happen where grady got hurt it was hard to even believe that he would need a stint on the DL after it...the guy just cant stay healthy

Indians recalled OF Travis Buck from Triple-A Columbus.

Buck spent the first 20 days of the regular season in the majors but batted just .241 with a .611 OPS in 10 games.

- Jack Hannahan is just 5-for-29 with one RBI this month, and the Indians held him out of Saturday's lineup in favor of Adam Everett. If Hannahan continues to slump, there's the chance we'll see Lonnie Chisenhall before the end of June. Chisenhall's overall .285/.373/.446 line at Triple-A Columbus doesn't really stand out, but the left-handed hitter is batting .326/.421/.500 in 92 at-bats against righties. Stick him in a platoon role and he might be a big contributor as the Indians try to maintain their surprising early pace.

The only blessing about Sizemore's injury is the fact that they are going to call up Buck. Now, hopefully they will put Kearns on the bench and let Buck play they may be this time when Sizemore is better they will bite Kearns' contract and let him go and keep Buck. One can only hope.

I'm sorry, but there was no way he should have been seriously hurt on that play. Something is up with his body if he can't take that kind of slide without being out of the lineup for 3 weeks or more. It's more or less gotten to Mark Prior territory...no matter how many flashes he shows when he gets back, you know he's just going to get hurt again.

regardless of who ends up staying in the lineup of kearns, buck or duncan, the bottom line is our situation in LF is horrible

Not another Adam Miller who is back in Kingston but I am sure that you know that. Can't say he is not giving it the old college try. What a shame:(
