Confirmed by Ken Rosenthal, Indians were awarded waiver claim on Thome, White Sox for Jason Kubel.

deal for thome being finalized according to mlb.com and plain dealer...i hope we dont give up to much for him...we are 6.5 back and probably 1 or 2 more losses away from being done, officially...i applaud the cleveland front office for doing everything possible to win but sometimes it may be too much...i just hope they are this aggressive during the offseason...one last thing, if thome waives his no trade clause and does in fact come to cleveland that game whenever he steps up to the plate will be fucking awesome...reminiscent of kenny lofton in 07

Eh, I'm pretty sure they're already done. I just see this as a move to allow Thome to come home and finish up in a Tribe uniform. I can't imagine them parting with more than some token low-A prospect for him and that's fine. He'll be a draw at the Jake for a few weeks.
