Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

Considering the supreme talent of the Indians, it is a pretty tall order to beat them over the course of the season. They're basically an all-star team. I'd brag if my team beat a team with no clear weakness like this Tribe team.

not beat, SWEPT.....simple english.

Call me slow, I haven't followed baseball much this year but I see the Indians picked up Kosuke Fukudome. Were the Indians lacking a player that gets paid like a slugger but prefers to slap the ball to the opposite field?
He was a major upgrade over what they had...tells ya all you need to know about their talent level. Given all the injuries, lack of talent, youth, etc...it's a damned miracle this team stayed in contention into August.

It was a good run, but I think this sweep will just about do it. I know they have games vs Detroit and Chicago to go, but I don't see them overcoming it. If they can add a bat or two then next year will be exciting. No one expected them to be in contention until late August.

No one.

Go Tribe!

This. Though the record was buoyed with smoke and mirrors in April and May, they still have a legit shot to claw their way to a .500 finish. I, and I think pretty much everyone else here had them pegged for 90-95 losses.

Going forward, hopefully they can add a decent RH bat or two and the kids continue to develop. We're also going to have to find a 1B down the line because LaBusta isn't the answer, that's been made clear this season. Maybe Santana plays there long term. Have to hope Ubald-O unfucks himself too.

As a Cub fan I've watched him over the years. He's very good defensively and at the plate he'll tease you with power every now and again. Also, they put him in the lead off position quite a bit, it could be he was just trying to get on base.

the next 14 games are the mariners, oakland and the royals...3 of those being at kansas city...if we finish this stand going .500 or below then yes we are finished...but as many in this thread are easy to do, im not giving up hope and i doubt this team is ready to start waiving the white flag
