Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

And good lord, how do you give up a leadoff HR to Ichiro Suzuki who had 2 HR's on the year going into tonight. Absolutely ridiculous.

If we lose to this shitty team who has 21 wins on the road this year, its over.

your a retard if you judge this or any trade after 4 starts...along with the fact that alex white or pomeranz haven't even made their debut yet for the rockies at the pro level...ubaldo has had 3 terrible outings, all on the road, and 1 good start in cleveland....you can be quick to judge and say yes this trade is [censored]ing terrible...something you obviously have already done...i will wait and see before i write this trade off....ubaldo may suck dick the rest of this year...that is a very real possibility...but there is no doubt he has the potential to come back strong the following year

have you read anything ive been saying since the trade was made?

guy has been mediocre at best since the AS break last season and is not showing any signs of changing so far

the stats back it up his ERA since the 2010 AS break is 4.44

his OBP allowed went from .280 pre AS break 2010 to .322 after AS break 2010 and is .339 in 2011

his opponent OPS went from .582 to .644 pre-post AS break 2010 and is .775 in 2011

care to explain how the stats lie.....if anything he is getting worse than figuring things out any

you asked a question which was something like does anyone still think this was a good trade? and i replied that its impossible to judge this trade after he has made only 4 starts with us....not saying this will happen but what if the rest of his starts he throws 8 innings all his starts, sub 2.00 ERA, K/BB ratio of 10/3...and top that off with him being a dominant ace next year...then will YOU still think this is a bad trade?...i have to say that you are the one person on here who is consistently negative about anything the indians do...its hard for me to believe you are a true fan, fairweathered at best...so your thoughts on the ubaldo trade were exactly what i expected...the indians took a gamble and you already wrote it off....hopefully for you, ubaldo sucks dick, has tommy john surgery and is done for life so the indians can continue to suck...good luck man...im pulling for you

first off how am I a fairweathered fan? that would mean I only show up when the Indians win......which would be never since they havent won shit in this lifetime

second sure if Ubaldo returned to his pre AS break 2010 form it would be a good trade.......but i'm not holding my breath on it, however I think the Ubaldo we see now (mid 4s ERA 1.35+ WHIP etc) is what the Indians are going to get during his tenure in Cleveland, do I hope he fails, no.....but as of right now I dont have much hope

If Ubald-O can un[censored] himself and give the team a legit #2, meaning 14-16 wins, 3.50-ish ERA, then it likely won't be a bad trade. We won't know for sure for a couple of years until we know what Pom and White are going to be as ML pitchers. Chances are, we'll never know for sure as they're going to be stuck pitching in Denver's thin air. Most were screaming we got ripped off in the Victor trade, yet, a year and a half later, it appears we have a true ace out of that deal.

Right now, as things, stand, it doesn't look good for this season, as Ubald-O has been dreadful in three starts, decent in another. His road splits this year (prior to the trade) were still there, he just wasn't doing well in Denver like he was the early part of '09. Can't hold that against him, 99% of SP suck at Coors.

Hopefully it's something mechanical and he can find a happy medium between his dominant 1st half of '09 and what he was otherwise prior to the three eggs he's layed here. They claim he checked out health-wise, so that would lead me to believe it's something that can be fixed. Hopefully.

ok maybe you aren't a fairweathered fan, but i havent been posting on this board consistently enough over the years to know if you are or not...all i can go by is what you post in this thread on a regular basis which is negative trash...thats fine your entitled to your own opinion and comments...in fact i have a few friends that are just like how you are and only open their mouth to comment on the indians when its something negative to bash them for comedy purposes...its funny for awhile but after a certain point it gets annoying...i could put you on ignore but i like pretty much everything else you have to say in the other ohio state threads.../end rant

as far as ubaldo the stats do not lie...there were red flags before the trade was made...obviously the trade could be a huge disaster...but when the trade was made i thought it was a risk worth taking...2013 is a crucial season and we have 2 years to improve to become a playoff contender...i hope to god the dolan family decides to dig into their pockets and offer some free agents a chunk of change to come here, along with signing some of our own...point is we can sit here and debate this ubaldo trade all day long...but unless your Biff Tannen from the back to the future part II and have the sports almanac from the future with how good ubaldo does for the next 2 years, its pointless

Further on Ubald-O, people thinking that trade was going to push this team into the post season in 2011 were fooling themselves. Starting pitching has been far from the issue with this team's collapse. Defensive ineptitude and the inability to hit RH pitching is the problem. When your infield can barely field a ground ball correctly, and you're getting [censored] poor offensive production from your "power positions" (1B/3B/DH/Corner OF) you cannot expect to go far.

Ubald-O helps down the line by giving you two potential aces at the top of the rotation IF they can get some offensive help...particularly in the OF. I have to think they'll be a bit more aggressive persuing FAs this year as there are glaring offensive deficiencies that need to be filled if they're serious about competing for the post season.

hafner could be out more then 15 days, indians might take a look at thome, indians tried to get rich harden from the A's, and fixing ubaldo

Hafner's done. He has been awful for six weeks, might as well just shut him down. Getting Thome would please me because, aside from Santana, we have no HR threat whatsoever. I do not get why Antonetti would go after Harden, unless he could be had for chump change. Again, starting pitching is the least of this team's worries. Tonight being another fine example.
