Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

Welcome to Cleveland Jimenez, can't wait to see you pitch well in Cland for the next few years, and help us make a run! Thanks OCab for adding not a single thing to the Tribe, what a waste. At least he's off our hands now

I wouldn't say that at all, he had several clutch hits in April-May, and is given a lot of credit for AsCab's emergence. But, yeah. His recent brooding and play make me pretty happy he's gone.

I haven't really been following this so can someone please explain how getting another starter is going to help the Indians win this season? From what I've seen they are losing too many games 1-0.

this trade isnt just for this year...ubaldo is signed through 2013 for cheap...you take the risk that he will be an ace and that white and pomeranz dont become better pitchers then ubaldo down the line...white's finger injury may or may not turn out to be serious, but chances were he would not help us down the stretch...annonetti is convinced no one wants to win the central and that the indians have just a good of chance as anyone of winning it this year...and if ubaldo is doing decent next year or the year after and we are out of contention that year, then you trade him for other prospects...i like the risk annonetti is taking...ubaldo is a proven starter, white and pomeranz are question marks...no one is doubting their talent but the indians depth in the minors is solid so i like the risk of trading away prospects instead of selling players for more prospects who may or may not turn into matt laportaish

Not to mention that they wouldn't trade him after allowing a physical, and, seriously, why trade him if there isn't something wrong??? Everything that we look at as a positive makes me really wonder...that and his average velocity is down a good bit.

I'm not as concerned about the slight drop in average velocity (let's face it, 93-94 mph is still plenty fast) as I am in the narrowing of the velocity range.

I still remember Greg Maddux's mantra: "In and out, up and down, back and forth." The back and forth seems to be lacking here.

I think the Indians saw the Tigers make a big move by getting another starter and thought that they had to do something. Personally, I don't like to trade. I think we gave up too much until the guy from Colorado proves me wrong. Maybe he will fail his physical.

I think White would be a quality MLB pitcher next year if nothing is wrong with his finger and Drew might be able to help also. We need a big time right-handed hitting power outfielder or first baseman (not LaPorta). I just wonder if Houston would have taken the package for Pence that Colorado took.

I just have very mixed emotions about this deal. We really don't have much left in our farm system to give up for more quality players which we need.

Yahoo's Tim Brown reports that the Indians are "getting close" on a deal for Ryan Ludwick, but the trade isn't complete yet.

It was previously reported that they could have a deal in place by Saturday night or Sunday morning, but the Pirates were still around as a threat to nab the outfielder. It looks as though the Indians will get their man, however. Ludwick is hitting just .169/.220/.253 in July and has a .238/.301/.372 batting line for the season.
