Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

im glad carrasco went after butler...aiming at the head or not...i dont believe he was aiming at the head because his control was so bad in the first place...but after melky stood at the plate in awe i would of done the same thing...

I don't know who started the rule that baseball players aren't allowed to celebrate but throwing at the next guy reminds me of a kid in the sandbox pissed off because someone knocked over his castle. Besides, it is pretty easy to throw at a batter when you know you won't have to step in the batter's box yourself the next inning. Carrasco looked like a petulant child, not a man.

I think you know when a player stands at the plate for a few seconds to admire his homerun that either the next batter or him is going to get the ball thrown at him and better be prepared. Shit, I knew it was going to happen as soon as I saw Cabrera admiring his grand slam and you probably did also. If Carrasco wanted to hit him, he probably could have. That ball really wasn't that close to his head. Cabrera is just lucky that it wasn't one of the old-timers pitching or he would have gotten nailed.

Ok, so I get that Ubaldo is under contract for three more seasons at a very fair price but how do the Indians give up more for him than what they got for Lee or CC even if they were just half year rentals for their teams?

positional players always carry more weight in trades than pitchers do. cleveland got their lead off hitter and starting LF for CC, and their starting 1B, who sucks.

They got a potential staff ace for Victor, and their #2 guy at this point their best catcher, and a utility IF for Lee.

So, they dealt their two best pitching prospects for a guy with injury questions and has a 4.2+ ERA over his last 39 starts.

Word is that the injury issue with White may be more serious than being let on, but the Rockies won't let the indians give Ubaldo a physical until the trade's done. WTF?

Anyway, big night for LaBusta. Now he'll disappear for another two weeks.

Needs to be more offense coming if they're serious about this year, but at this point sounds like Ludwick is their guy. Anybody thinking he can make a difference is fooling themselves.

Just have to cross our fingers and hope Ubaldo can be a legit #1 or #2, but he lasted 1 fucking inning tonight, 4 runs and four walks. Wonderful.

The thing with Ubaldo indicates to me that they are serious about the next 2-3 years, because it would likely take that long for the guys they would be trading to hit the big club and make a splash, and by then the rest of this team could have fallen apart again. It is a big risk, but if they are going to trade pitching I'd rather them get good pitching back, rather than mediocre-assed position players like they've been looking at. If Ubaldo settles in as a #2-3 starter, and Masterson and Tomlin can keep doing what they're doing, we only need one more guy out of everyone else to fit in, and Carmona can be in the 5 hole until he figures it out or retires or sells shoes. Trading their best prosepcts wasn't going to result in dick as a hitter, so at least they tried to get a pitcher that could be a big gun.

Of course, the flip side of me says Ubaldo had one huge season where he went 19-8...and of course Fausto headcase had one big season where he went...19-8...

Not to mention that they wouldn't trade him after allowing a physical, and, seriously, why trade him if there isn't something wrong??? Everything that we look at as a positive makes me really wonder...that and his average velocity is down a good bit. Jesus Christ.
