"He had a handful of teams listed and we were one of them," Antonetti said. "I think he realizes he is coming to a team with a chance to play in the postseason."

Good news.
There's nothing official yet, but the San Diego Union-Tribune is hearing rumblings that "a trade could be going down." Jon Heyman of SI.com reported this morning that the Phillies, Braves, Reds and Indians were all pursuing the 33-year-old outfielder. There's a good chance he'll be dealt before the July 31 deadline.
- A lot of people are underwhelmed with the deal, but this is expected to just be a shot across the bow as the Indians are still hot and heavy after several bats and starting pitchers. When the dust settles after 4:00 PM on Sunday, the Indians are expected to have acquired as many as two to four more players. So before we get all upset at the move, let's see what else they do and THEN look at all the moves collectively before we go off the deep end.
Yep. This isn't the move to put the Tribe in the World Series...but it's a sign of competitiveness, at least.Buck was hitting .228 with a .275 OBP
Fukudome .273 with a .374
giving up 2 marginal prospects and only paying $775K of the $4.7 million left on Fukudome's deal.........i'll take it
Bucklion;1961072; said:Hey Fukudome could start for the Royals, and that might rule out our entire outfield in its current state, so it isn't overwhelming, but it isn't bad.
Source: Ken Rosenthal on TwitterThe Indians acquired Kosuke Fukudome on Thursday but are still in the market for some more hitting and evidently have Ludwick at the top of the list. Ludwick is batting just .238/.302/.373 with 11 home runs for the Padres this season but has piqued the interest of multiple parties. He was not in Thursday's lineup, and the San Diego Union-Tribune heard the reasoning might be that a trade "could be going down" soon.
