What's the latest news on who we're looking at?

same old crap....bj upton...ryan ludwick...maybe colby rasmus...houston is telling lies if they say they will not trade pence...anyone can be had for the right price...apparently beltran has told the indians he does not want to be traded here because he wants to play for a contender...if the indians ever needed motivation over a comment then there you go

there are very few contenders that are willing to take on beltran's contract and send something of value to the mets like the indians are. so, he can languish in last place in the NL, or play for a team in a division race, which, if he puts up good numbers and helps them, will blow up his value as a FA.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Indians, trying to revive their struggling offense, made a strong push for Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran, but were told he preferred to go elsewhere.
In a story first reported Tuesday by Peter Gammons of MLB.com, the Indians offered to pay the remainder of Beltran's $18.5 million contract this year and give the Mets a player. The Indians were told it was a no go.
Beltran has a complete no-trade clause in his contract.
On Tuesday, Beltran told New York reporters that the deal was never presented to him. It's evident that Beltran's agent, Scott Boras, has given the Mets a list of teams that Beltran would be willing to lift his no trade clause for and that Indians aren't on it.
Beltran, a free agent at the end of the season, seemingly would prefer to stay in the National League. He'd also like to go to a team that has a chance to reach the postseason. The Indians trail first-place Detroit in the AL Central by two games.

hoynes podcast...basically said the well is dry for prospects to come up and make an impact this year from AAA or AA...said the top 4 prospects, chiz, pomeranz, alex white, kipnis, are all not untouchable...if the deal was right for say a hunter pence, then he believes we would get rid of any of those 4 for him...said we may go after a starter but offense is what we need the most obviously...also is of the opinion that the indians have to make a trade
