Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

15-10 Final. Plus side, they won 10-1 after spotting them a 14 run lead. :groove: Small victories, people.

Pluses:
- The kids battled and made it semi-respectable after an embarrassing start.
- Santana looks great...3-5, 2 R, HR, 3 BI
- 17 Hits (!), 3 Each from AsCab, Smooth and Hannahan
- LaPorta looked pretty solid after a slow start including a great AB w/ 2out in the B9th.
- Pronk looked decent, as did Brantley.
- Only 2 whiffs all game.
- Hermann & Pestano whiffed 8 over the last three innings.

Negatives:
- Carmona. Holy crap. Hopefully Head Case Carmona doesn't rear his ugly head and completely come apart like he did in '08 & '09. :(
- Germano got rocked too.
- That's really it, but it's a doozy.

Young team, slow start, blah, blah, blah. At least they fought back. Can't take much from one game in cold weather, but the bats were hot after a slow start. Everybody in the lineup had a hit but Kearns, and at least he drew a pair of BB. Defense wasn't the comedy it was last year. I don't expect Hannahan to continue to tear it up, but if he can provide a decent bat w/ improved defense at 3B, we might not be too bad off there until Chis is ready.

Carrasco is up next. That's a potent Chicago lineup, so we'll see if he can carry over a solid September.

Incidently, here's the BA top-100 list...came out a little over a month ago. The Tribe garners four of the top-100:

Chis (25)
White (47)
Kipnis (54)
Pomeranz (61)

So, 4 of the top-61...not too shabby.

Also, I cannot find the article/Q&A, but one of their guys commented that while the Indians farm system isn't necessarily full of top line prospects, there are a lot of guys that will play well in the majors and will help lay the foundation for a solid future...that they're one of the "deeper" farm systems in the majors.

These guys [censored]ing suck.

They take so many strikes. It is like they purposely try to get behind in every single count.

2 weak ground outs and a strike out in the bottom of the first.

Maybe they can hit one out of the infield next time.

They don't pick up their bats until the sixth inning:( and why did Acta leave Carmona in the game for so long yesterday. They might have won it if he had not let Carmona get hammered.

Alright, *damn you WGN for that graphic showing loaded bases!* 1 out in the bottom of the 2nd. 5-3.

Jackson is getting a little reckless. C'mon AsCab, get another run or two in!

And Choo strikes out. I thought that was close to not going through, but 3rd base called it.
