Cleveland Indians (2011 Season)

I remember the late 90s, when every Indians fan I knew told me they were the greatest fans in baseball. They had that sellout streak, when the Browns left town and the Cavs sucked the Tribe bandwagon was rolling. I haven't seen any of those people lately. I miss them.

Even the Pirates will draw more than 10,000.

We're still here, but I personally refuse to spend a single dime on this team as long as Dolan is the owner.

The 90's was a perfect storm for the Indians. The Browns were gone, the Cavs were horrible, and the Indians consistently had good teams. The Browns will always be the #1 team in Cleveland so as soon as they came back they started selling out games even though they were horrible. When the Cavs drafted Lebron, and the Indians couldn't afford to out pay the big money teams for their good players it was over for the Indians. They might have a good team every once in a while now, but they are never going to be good like they were in the 90's unless baseball gets a hard salary cap that most teams can afford like the NFL. The medium and small market teams need to hold out for a manageable hard cap the next time they have to negotiate the CBA. I can only imagine the holdout when all the players and a third of the teams are against a hard cap.

Well yeah, but I'll at least try to enjoy the 5-6 years he's here.

Me too. He's going to be awesome. You can just tell.

Just wish we could look forward to seeing a great player finish his career here (or at least stick around through his prime).

Exactly right... I cringed every time they said that cuz I knew it wasn't true. This city is a bunch of front runners except for the Browns (which actually deserve the treatment the Indians are getting now)

Then why follow them? Dolan will be the owner for a LONG time. So deal with it. And you know nothing about baseball if you blame this all on Dolan. Next thing you are going to tell me is Jacobs was a great owner...

You are dead on about the perfect storm for the Indians. But the problem is the party is over. Baseball needs to get fixed, but the little guy can still compete, the problem is the front office has missed on too many draft picks. You need to hit home runs like Manny Ramirez & CC in the draft. Too many drafts getting Jermey Sower types and you are in the boat we are in.

 what a joke. ESPN's top 10 plays from the weekend had the triple play at #2 and the #1 play was the catch against the wall. Really? You're lucky to get one triple play in a season, and you get awesome catches against the wall almost everyday. Rubbish.

Absolutely correct. The drafting for 2002 to 2007 was atrocious. The last 3 years have picked up, with several of the high picks showing real promise in AA, and AAA.

I am taking the initiative this year against the FO and tweeting Mark Shapiro every time they lose voicing my displeasure with what he has done with this team. Do I expect to get anywhere with it? No. But it does feel good to tell him directly what I think of the job he's done.
