Cleveland Guardians (2022 AL Central Champs)

Got both games of the doubleheader. That's encouraging after the flop against the Giants over the weekend.

I mean, they're just gonna have flop series, especially against decent pitching. Key here is to continue to play competent baseball - which mostly they have - learn to win some as a group and see who's for real from all these guys they got in trades. And if a couple of them are for real, and Rosario continues to not suck, etc... maybe they're not terrible, but they need to find guys who can hit in the 5,6,7 spots consistently with minimal platooning.

Yep! Pretty much been needing that since about 2000……. But I think you overlooked the current need to add a number 4 hitter to that list. Reyes has basically been the same since he got to Cleveland: whole lotta potential who has actually only managed to be productive a couple weeks a season, contributed some a few more weeks and been at or below replacement level the rest of the season.

For sure. I would consider him still a see what he is guy. Or he could be a 5, 6 or 7. Healthy for a season would be nice

Mandy Bell is MLB.com’s beat reporter for Cleveland and often has interesting columns. From her latest:

“Reyes has gone 0-for-his-last-13 with nine punchouts, punctuated with a whopping four-strikeout night on Tuesday. And for a team that hasn’t struck out too often, Reyes has caused the strikeout percentage to skew higher with his 27 K’s -- tied for the most in the Majors with Atlanta’s Dansby Swanson.”
