Cleveland Guardians (2022 AL Central Champs)

Bobby Bradley and Logan Allen DFA'd.

Who woulda thunk that a guy that whiffed once every three ABs in the minors wouldn't be able to hack it in the bigs?

Yea I was foolishly still holding out a little hope for him, he was terrible in spring though and in his short time this year on the roster struck out 9 times in 17 ABs (while walking 0 times and only getting 2 hits) good riddance.

I never saw it. They guy struck out prolifically in the minors and didn't make up for for it by making a decent amount of contact when he was whiffing. On top of that, by the time he was at AAA he was whiffing once every 2.65 ABs. That's horrific. I figured, at best, he might have a few good months then drop off rapidly. I think he had a few good weeks when he first came up last year and has been terrible since. He ain't a major.league player.

Here is part of what Rafa Nieves – the agent for Ramirez – told ESPN’s Alden Gonzalez: “They told him that they can’t afford what he’s worth, and he told them that he didn’t care. He wanted to stay there, and they made it work. He knows that he left money on the table, but he says, ‘$150 million or $200 million, my life is gonna be the same. I’m happier with $150 million in Cleveland than $200 million somewhere else.’”

https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/batting-average

So, I choose batting average here on purpose.

Not OPS, etc.

First the G spots are 2nd, and 2nd is in the 250's. (And first is in Coors)

As @Jaxbuck will tell you, the pitchers are winning.

But I think this is a conscious effort to identify players who strikeout less, get on base more, see more pitches and extend games. This is both a moneyball trend, and I think an acknowledgement that launch angle doesn't mean shit if you're swinging at shit in the dirt and striking out 10 times a game. (See the other end of 71)
